The hotel located just 10 minutes walk to Campbell Street Food market, Movie Theater and shopping complex. The rooms was very clean & receptionist was very friendly. The rate for two star hotel is very competitive.
The complimentary breakfast. Increase the quantity and quality of foods by upgrade the menu.
I have pleasant journey to Penang enjoy my holidays with my wife and children for 5 days. We had wonderful foods around the hotel and at night we go for latest indian movies at Odean theater. We feel the atmosphere like staying at home because very quite. I will strongly recommend this hotel my friends.
Restaurant Tip : Campbell Food Market & char Keow Tau

Clean rooms and reception
Located 1 block from the main street the hotel is reasonable value for money. The rooms are large but somewhat dated, but clean at the same time. The breakfast is basic, being choice of 2 cereals, toast and jam or honey, 1 or 2 cut fresh fruits, choice of 3 fruit drinks and coffee or tea... help yourself. Safe deposit is at reception and is a 2-key system.
Nightlife Tip : For the young-at-heart there is a karaoke bar on the way to the main street. Always good for a chat.

For the price, Mingood offers good quality, be it basic. Service is good.
A bit of a walk of the main tourist area, but not too bad. Facilities are basic, still great value for a budget-conscious traveler.
Mingood's location is okay, still a bit of a walk from the UNESCO Heritage area, but that's acceptable. Facilities are basic, but clean and sufficient, with the rooms quite big. Service was good, esp. at the reception (in the breakfast room things could be better...). For the money this hotel offers great value * I'll go back any time I get back to Penang. An extra good point : the Louis Cafe opposite Mingood : great western style food, with fantastic service. RECOMMENDED !
Travel tip : The Louis Cafe (opposite Mingood) is really good for food !

Cheap, good service at the counter
Run down, Lights very dim even if all lights on, Bed uncomfortable, Shower facilities run down, breakfast lousy, aircon not in good condition, construction work going on making it very noisy.
The rates are very reasonable. However, the facilities are very old and run down. The bed are quite uncomfortable and the lightings are very dim. If your main concern is the price then go for it. Otherwise, there should be better choice at a slightly higher price. There is not much facilities to talk about. It's not even a hotel, i should call it a motel.
Restaurant Tip : Try the hokkien mee along penang road

Definitely value for money. Big spacious and clean room. Location is good too.
My bed and pillow have a strong smell of cigarettes smoke and is a little choking. Informed the reception and requested for a change of room but apparently all rooms are smoking room. However they mentioned they will send someone to spray some air freshener. We did not find any difference in the smell when we got back at night though, but the smell isn't unbearable. It got a little better the next day.
Room light are yellow, tungsten lights. Sufficiently bright but I generally prefer a brightly lighted room at night.
The room is big, spacious and generally clean. Big toilet too with a bathtub and good heated shower, with strong shower pressure. Though there is no temperature control for the aircon, it keeps the room sufficiently cool, approx~ 22-24 degree Celsius. Location of the hotel is quite convenient and the bus stop is just 2-3mins walk from hotel. For any questions, ask the reception. They are extremely helpful though they might not be able to answer all questions. Breakfast is very basis but I don't take much. I don't really fancy it ask there's too much good food in Penang. I got to reserve the space for better food.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Buy the Rapid Penang (it's a local bus service) Tourist Pass at the airport Rapid Penang booth situated at DEPARTURE hall. It cost only 20 Ringgit for 7 days of free travel. A very good buy as Rapid Penang goes to all tourists attraction except Botanical Garden if I'm not wrong. You can take 401 from airport to Komtar/Georgetown. Journey can be as short as 25mins up to 1:10mins during peak hour. One thing to note is that it's can be quite difficult to understand the direction of the buses. Apparently all buses start/ends at Weld Quay/Jetty Terminal, pass through/outside Komtar and is a loop service. Find out clearly the direction and where to board the bus from the hotel reception before going. The frequency and wait at night can be frustratingly long. Out of Georgetown, bus stop can be hard to find. But it seems like the bus stop and pick us anywhere on the road. Tell the driver where you want to drop off but out of ~15 trips I took, only 1 remember to stop for me. Keep and look out and remind the driver when you know you are reaching. From experience, timing of buses departing the Weld Quay Terminal is very inaccurate. You need to keep asking as they keep changing. Give yourself sufficient buffer time if you have important timely to meet. Besides all these, the bus is definitely the cheapest and relatively efficient way to travel around Penang.

corridor and room could have been well lit.
only roti for breakfast, others need to pay .
l reached the hotel about 1am.The check-in was fast, all the personal details were made available by agoda. The counter staff was friendly.A walk down the corridor feels rather dark. When l enter the room, balcony windows and door were opened, which let in mosquitoes.l was thristy but mineral water was not provided. The breakfast did not provide much choices except roti with butter and strawberry jam.Fried egg cost 3 ringgits.Less food outlets at night around the hotel vicinity, need to walk further down Chulia Street.
Restaurant Tip : A restaurant beside Caltex supply nice and juicy chicken chop.

The hotel is located very close to the Georgetown heritage walk sites and is very clean for the price you pay. Very good value of money.
The b'fast is sad. Hardly any options for that
The hotel is located at a stone throwing distance from the penang road which is a paradise for street food lovers. These stalls are open all through the night and are easily accesible from the hotel. The breakfast however is not very exiting. I decided to forego it and had it outside since what you should do in penang is eat eat and eat !!!
But overall leaving the b'fast, the hotel offers very good value for money. Wi-fi is also free for guests

Very small rooms, no ambience, toilets were ordinary, balcony was not at all good
This is one of the cheap budget hotel and room is worth of the money we pay. But as a whole room is not comfortable or good enough to stay

Friendly Staff, Proximity to almost everywhere, affordable and clean room
I enjoy my stay at Hotel Minggod when I have my holidays in Penang on September 12 - 14. The hotel have so welcomming and friendly staff,it is situated near to all transpo, bar and shops.Their rooms are affordable, clean , safe and secured. I will stay again in Hotel Mingood chances i return to Georgetown.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : when it comes to bargaining for shops in Georgetown, Penang . be very friendly to the saleslady or salesman. Share good thoughts and funfilled experiences in their place while you look for your stuff. when you get close a bit then ask for a discount. They can actually give you 20% off of the regular price. The advise was given to me by my friend name Eddie, a Hindu Trishaw driver who roam me in town.

The Mingood is possibly the BEST hotel for the money in Georgetown. It is historically special and an honest value for your money. That is why we keep coming back.
The property is ‘elderly’ but not dilapidated. The hallways and some of the rooms could use a fresh coat of paint but the building DOES NOT smell of mold.
The Mingood is possibly the BEST hotel for the money in Georgetown. It is historically special and an honest value for your money. That is why we keep coming back. This modestly priced venue is conveniently located near the heart of Georgetown. Guests can walk anywhere in town or take one of the many taxies that ply the streets. There are bus stops within two short blocks and the main bus terminal is only eight blocks away. The property is ‘elderly’ but not dilapidated. The hallways and some of the rooms could use a fresh coat of paint but the building DOES NOT smell of mold. The rooms are air conditioned, there is always plenty of hot water for showers, and linens are changed each day. Breakfast is included in the room rate; it is a simple yet satisfying meal of toast, tea or coffee, fresh fruit. Eggs are available for a modest additional cost. The Mingood staff is friendly, well informed, and extremely helpful. The Mingood is close to a **** hotel, for the money.
Restaurant Tip : The world renowned restaurants of Little India are but a short walk from the hotel. Try the Tandoori chicken at Kapitain's on Chulia Street. The BEST Tandoori we have ever had...

very central location, free wifi, helpful staff
I stayed at the Hotel Mingood in Georgetown, Malaysia in September 2009. The room was very basic, but a good value considering the price and the central location. You are within walking distance of the UNESCO designated old city. Buses are easily accessible for distances further afield such as the beaches and Penang Hill. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone hoping to save money on quite decent accommodations.

Clean, friendly staff and aircon
No remote control for TVs
The hotel is quite close to the centre although slightly outside the UNESCO zone. It's easy to find and upon arrival, the staff are polite and informative. The room is clean and sufficient, with a fridge, aircon and TV. The windows aren't double-glazed however, and while this isn't normally a problem as the street is quiet at night, a burglar alarm opposite went off for around 20minutes in the early hours of my first night there and it was very audible in the room. Having said that, it was not the hotel's fault the alarm went off and if I were to return to Penang, I would stay in the hotel again as it is good value for money, has a light but late breakfast and has everything necessary for a short stay.
Hotel Feature Tip : It's easy enough to get to the hotel by bus from the airport. Just get off at the interchange (Komtar) and follow Jalan Penang.
