Location not so great
nice pool, clean rooms/bathroom, great ocean view, good breakfast and weekend buffets to die for.

i was very comfortable in this hotel.i do travel quite a bit all round the world and found this nice and quiet.i have actually stayed here 2x before. a bit far from batu feringgi beach for serious swimmers but there is a bus (101/102) every 45 minutes right in front of the hotel. one can also get to georgetown etc by the same bus. taxis are always available and the staff very helpful to arrange.across the road down to the beach is a delightful cafe, cafe miami, with awesome indian food and great lamb curry.i found the whole experience good but not really the place for young families who need to get their kids on a beach although there is a free shuttle service by the hotel 2x a day. nice to sit on the balcony at sunrise and have a coffee! carpet in the room is a little bit threadbare but only to be expected with thousands of feet over it.one thing needed... stronger light bulbs for reading in bed.for the price, excellent, and anyone with lots of criticism is probably not used to much and wants to find fault!!
Shopping Tip:
Hotel can take you into town on the free shuttle for shopping or hire a car and driver per hour (minimum 4hours, 30RM per hour, ask for Chris, he is a mine of information) and go where you like.Little India is good for spices. There is a shuttle from hotel to the Night Market in Batu Feringgi as well.

the hydro is an impressive hotel situated a short bus ride to either buta feringgi or georgetown ,bus stops are directly opposite hydro and cost only about $1 nz and are every half hour .breakfast is very good with plenty of selection and the setting lovely.hotel rooms very clean and views are great from most.would stay again,the day before our departure we received a beautiful yummy cake sent to our room ,would recommend the hydro resort to everyone.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
butterfly park is well worth a visit , very tranquil setting .
public buses are a great way to get around ,all quite new and the drivers are very helpful ,only a $1nz to go almost anywhere on Penang Island ,Ferry across to Butterworth is a good trip free one way and 60cents to come back.

Location not popular but in a tranquil environment

The room was big with a balcony. The toilet and the floor were clean. The breakfast was quite sufficient though not much varirties. Metered taxi rarely came around due to its remote location so the hotel provided free shuttle bus for George Town, Golden Sand beach, and Night Market at Batu Ferringhi.
The swimming pool was quite big and good for relaxation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good value for money
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Bus No. 101 stops outside the hotel, it is convenient to catch the bus to George Twon, MG 2.7 or Night Market at Batu Ferringhi, MG 1.4.

i am sorry to say that we would not stay at this hotel again even though the staff where very friendly and helpful. the hotel is not in a very good location as you need to get a taxi to go anywhere which are fixed price,no meter taxies! the tiny beach area was extremnly disappointing and not so easy to get to if you have difficulty getting up and stairs with no access after 19.30 unless you want to risk your life crossing the road in the dark.the bathroom is really sub standard and in desperate need of a face lift and there was an unpleasant smell in all the corridors when you exit your room. very limited tv channels on an old tv.
Travel tip:
You can get a bus (101 or 102) outside the hotel to the Gurney Plaza shopping Mail which is great. Good resturant on the Beach called Bora Bora in Batu town

this hotel is near by the penang town, penang is famous with its oriental view and delisious food like : assam laksa, chak kuay teoy, ice kacang, popiah, sea food. there are many old and historical temple locak in penang. the hotel room is clean, service was good and the food is delicious too.
