Weird experience - an almost derelict holiday camp

An odd experience. We chose to stay at Jerejak because it's relatively close to the close to the Airport and we had an overnight stopover in Penang. It is in NO way deserving a 4 star rating, 2.5 I would say. The place was virtually deserted, though we were told by the one other couple we met staying at the resort that it picked up on weekends. The resort felt tired and dated, which one might have expected if it were 20-30 years old - but not 10! Room was musty, acceptably clean in some ways but there was established mound in the shower that could have been easily cleaned with a decent anti-mould spray in less than 20 minutes - and the plumbing was scary. Sheets clean but the blanket between them smelled *really bad* - I think had been in a smoking room.affected my comfort considerably. Glass walls in restaurant and fitness area not clean, looked quite run down. Menu in restaurant was abyssmal for dinner - very limited. Food was bland. Breakfast was acceptable. Staff were quite friendly and helpful with good English. Nice forest, dirty beach.

Worst hotel experience

If it looks too good to be true then it is with this hotel. We booked 8 days in a superior chalet, which was unavailable. However the hotel omitted to advise us of that before we arrived. The substitute room was a very poor standard. The hotel food was sub-standard and inedible.
This hotel is NOT an eco resort. They burn the rubbish on site; infrastructure (rooms) connecting passage ways, roofs, paths, etc are dilapidated; there is litter everywhere and immediately behind the resort is an area that can only be described as a "dump yard". In fact, the images online are of the premises post initial construction and furbished.
We stayed 1 night out of 8, and are in the process of writing to the consortium management and the Tourism Board to complain about the misrepresentation of this resort.
Even Penangites expressed disappointment and frustration in the poor accommodation and substitute rooms.
It is a fantastic location with potential but it should not be open in its present condition; alternatively at least be honest about its current state of disrepair!

This hotel is only suitable for those who would like to enjoy the island holiday. This hotel is fully own the island, beside the hotel facilities, there are nothing there i.e like small town o villages.
During my visit, most of the hotel facilities were under contruction which i didnt enjoyed much on the facilities like jungle tracking and adventure activities.
Nothing much i want to complaint because mostly this hotel is worth of money and good. The only thing is the ferry services. Hotel guess can enjoy the FOC ferry service to go over to penang island for others activities like shopping, sightseeing, enjoy the local food and so on but the inconvenience is the ferry timetable which the gap between each round is about 2 to 3 hours once and the last ferry from penang island back to this pulau jerejak is on 10.30pm which i need to rush back to the jetty. if not, i might missed the last ferry to go back to the hotel.

A different experience

It was a different experience in total. I must say that those who were riding the speedboat or handling the ropes for the speedboat were very efficient & thoughtful. They helped to get e speedboat nearer to e other speedboat or to the pavement for us to have a safe landing.
Staffs were very friendly except 2 of them that I can remember on the first day of check in. There was this Indian guy who drove the buggy from behind us & mentioned that he wanted to let us place our luggage in the buggy to ease our hand weight, I doubt it was a genuine one as we saw him riding the buggy slowly & steadily behind us & when we had doubts in regards to our stay & information, he was literally on his stern high pitch.
The front counter staff then told US to make our way to the room & he would send our luggages to our doorstep. Then from no where a Malay lady came in the buggy & was eventually scolding the staff for making such arrangement & directly came to us & told us the room is here u can walk quite fast. These 2 people pissed US off but since we didn't wanna have an unpleasant we decided not to mention anything & especially not to make any enquiries with the 2 unpleasantly rude staffs.
And when making the booking via agoda, it was stated that the rooms had WiFi. When we asked the staff said they are having problems with their WiFi hence it will not be available. This was a disappointment. And we had no idea that we had to pay another 100 Ringgit refundable deposit when checking in.
Anyways I had a good swim in the morning, the beach was calm & relaxing. And 2 thumps up for the staffs who assisted in the speedboats. And a Malay man, can't recall his name though. He was very nice,caring & thoughtful.
Shopping Tip:
Komtar shopping area, there's is a shopping centre there which looks more like city square mall in johor bahru but it's much cheaper.

Sudden water disruption during stay.
The executive chalet was beautiful and located on the hill. Excellent service by the staffs.

i booked the executive chalet for one night on december and stayed there on january. when we reached there, the place was really overwhelming. as we were about to checked in, the receptionist told us that all executive chalet were closed because january was the renovation month. but they reserved one chalet for us since we already booked it on december. everything was nice until that night, there was water disruption all of sudden. we waited from 9pm until the next morning, 5am but still there wasn't any water coming out. we lodged a complaint, they came and fixed it but a few moments later, it happened again. in the end they gave us a new room as replacement which was standard deluxe room. we were pretty disappointed with what had happened. overall, both rooms were nice. excellent service by the staffs.

a place with good welcoming staff , even from the jetty itself. Boat with good satety. A nice scene started while you are in the boat until you reach the hotel. Over there you feel like "back to the nature". fun activities with kids like cycling , swimmung , jungle tracking and beach sport.At night you can go for fishing. Food is nice and affordable.

nice place but the bed is dusty

it is a good place to stay but when i do booking that time, it didn't mention that we have to go by boat to that place. And the first night I didn't get to stay there but I had paid for it. Hope that I can get refund of that night. The bed is dusty and floor have lots of sand.

Good Location but terrible service

I had the most unpleasant stay at this resort lately. I must say the quality of service and staff have deteriorated within 1 year from the time i last stayed there. We requested for a King sized bed on Agoda, but was given 2 single-sized beds. Not even a double bed! Rooms were musty and dusty and toilets were not cleaned well. Water heater was not working too. The buffet breakfast were below par and the ala-carte menu left much to be desired! Most of the waiters were foreigners and could not understand our requests, as a result of which all our orders were mixed up.
Travel tip:
I would not recommend anyone to stay here till the hotel does something to improve its service. In short, we had the most dissapointing trip there.
