The hotel has always had the colonial feel that I loved but during this stay at the hotel, it was somewhat different. The receptionist were not very friendly and as requested a double bed but upon check in they didn't have the room, they never offered to check for us but we had to initiate it instead. The next day, no note of whatsoever request was even done. We had to call the receptionist again to make sure our request was done. The place looked older than my previous stay and the place was not properly maintained. It didn't give you that "clean feeling". During breakfast, food wasn't replenished, the waiters took a while to clean the tables and it was overall very messy. If you pay attention to the tent, there were like molds growing. It should be cleaned at least once a while. The grass by the pool was growing longer that should be cut. Towels for the pool again was not restocked. As we were looking for a seat by the pool, we also realized that the tables by the pool were filled with dirty plates which we had to get someone to clean. Overall I really do love the place but they should get their staff trained properly and improve on the cleanliness. Impressions always comes a long way.

It's by the beach and convenient.

The refurbishment and cleanliness.

Valued price, I stayed in room 411 (most economy grade) but enough for comfortable sleeping and sun-tanning. Silent, clean bed and shower/bathroom.

Small lodge, old facility, close to sea and the pool.

Poor Internet connection, no LAN or wireless in the room. Low power electric heating shower.

The Lone Pine hotel is in fact a nice, small butique hotel that screams for a make over, I´m sure it hasn´t had one since it was built, which is a real shame because it could be a first class boutique hotel if it did. The pool is lovely, with easy access into the water for children and older people, the beach the hotel faces is beautiful with amazing sun sets and rooms are really big and could be very comfortable but sadly they look so tatty, with paintwork pealing and really dirty, bathrooms so old that they have been out of fashion and back into it again (but with 70´s plumbing!) and furniture in the rooms to match the bathrooms. If you plan to stay at the same hotel for more than 3 days during your holiday I would seriously consider other hotels, for short stays the Lone Pine might be ok.

Good pool, lots of restaurants nearby, beatiful beach

Tatty rooms and common areas, so so breakfast

  • Shopping Tip : Lone Pine is situated at the beggining of the area´s night market, which is full of junk really, but might be nice to visit one night (remember that if you stay longer, the stuff on sale will be the same)

This hotel is really very expensive for that quality. It was built many years ago and badly needs a renovation. One not very young taxi driver told us that this hotel has already existed then he was a little boy. This is one of the oldest hotels on the Ireland. That means they have an experienced and friendly staff, but really disgusting rooms. When we put up in our room we realized that it is already occupied by two huge cockroaches and many very small ants. Luckily we had some repellent liquid to strike against these unexpected gests. Bad sheets were grey and ragged, blanket was dirty and beach towels were also ragged. There were not enough beach towels and if you were late you should ask the personnel for then and wait then they bring some. The food in the restaurant was pretty good; all personal was smiling and very helpful. This is located directly on the beach and hotel area is very nice. The Lone Pine Hotel has not one pine, but many beautiful pines on its territory. It might be one of the best hotels on the Ireland if they renovate rooms and be not so tolerant to insects.

Good location, nice beach, a lot of restarants near the hotel, friendly staff

This hotel is really very old. In our room we've find two huge cockroaches and a strange smell. The furniture is very worn and out of repair. Bad sheets were grey and ragged.

  • Shopping Tip : Also a lot of nice restaurants near the hotel. You can explore Chinese, Italian, Lebanon, Arabic and local foods just two minutes walk from the hotel.

The Lone Pine is a very nice hotel. It has alovely pool area and is directly on Batu Ferringhi beach. Malaysia is an expensive destination for hotel rooms and for the money that I payed, I was a little disappointed. The rooms are large, yet a little dated, yet we did have a nice walled garden area. The bar, although nice, was very expensive and clsoed fairly early. Overall, a good hotel but maybe a little expensive for the standard.

Taxi fares are high, so I'd recommend a rental car.

The location of this hotel is the best point. Right outside is the night market and plenty of bars/restaurants. Despite the proximity of the night market, you don't get any of the noise. Food court at the market is worth a vist but keep your eye on your belongings at all times. One offputting thing was that whilst the hotel was right on the beach, once you stepped onto the beach, there were touts everywhere, offering you rides on jet skis, horses etc. At some points, they were shouting over the bushes to the hotel guests, particularly those with children. Whilst this didn't bother us too much, this would be offputting to some people. There were plenty of gimmiky restaurants (including one which was an old fashioned ship) - if you like this sort of thing.

Good location - near to night market and bars/restaurants. Good selection of food for breakfast. Small hotel with plenty of space - even though the hotel was full, it didn't feel like it. Drinks and food in the hotel were expensive, especially when there were restaurants and bars on the doorstep!

Expensive for standard of accommodation on offer - rooms badly in need of a makeover. Pool and general decor outdated and needs upgrading.

  • Hotel Feature Tip : If you want to visit the capital, Georgetown, don't bother with an expensive taxi as there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which will take you there for a very small amount - great for experiencing local life! I must mention one of the members of staff, a very helpful gentleman called Raja - he gave us loads of advice on places to go and things to see and was always happy and friendly - nothing was too much trouble.

Lone Pine's beach is one of the few along the entire stretch which is not overcrowded.

  • Shopping Tip : Night market stalls spring up after night falls right outside the hotel road which stretches several 100 metres
