Mang Tree Place was excellent! Great and nice design to all the rooms and areas, good breakfast, comfortable and large rooms. Best of all, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful but not intrusive and you have lots of privacy. Our first room had a small problem and without hesitation they upgraded us to a different and better room. Great place for couples on an anniversary.

Parking available right in front of our courtyard room gave us the feeling of coming home. The attention deco gave us surprises after surprises which provided unexpected entertainment to discover this unique boutique hotel. The breakfast is the best in town an a must try! Everything else in Penang is exemplified in this hotel - history, culture, food and fun!

It is a unique experience as this is a B&B setup. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful in providing local information. The breakfast is quite sumptuous local hawker food. It is a simple setup but has every essential items you need for a comfortable stay. The room is very large and clean. It is located in a very safe neighborhood and pretty near to the Georgetown attractions and Gurney Drive.

We stayed at the Courtyard Suite for 3D2N with a 2 month old infant in tow. Baby cot was provided FOC which was a nice gesture.
At check in, we greeted personally by Wei - one of the three joint-owners. Check-in was swift and we were served welcome drinks - a nice surprise considering the hot Penang weather. Wei gave us some local 'makan' pointers which were helpful.
Our room had a private courtyard with a swing. The room was tastefully decorated and the shower was superb. Breakfast was a different local menu everyday. The staff even got me some nyonya kueh for breakfast seeing that I enquired those the day before!
I can't rave enough about this awesome place! Only gripe is that the low hanging bedside lamp fixture proved to be hazardous esp. when waking up at night.

The rooms were decorated with different themes in restored pre-war houses. Very nice ambiance and decorations. We love the mini garden in the courtyard especially they were considerate enough to cover the roof with clear plastic and netting to keep away the mosquitoes and yet let the sunlight through.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Talk to them and you will gain lots of information about Penang.
This place rocks. Everybody should give this hotel a try when they're in Penang.
