Comfortable clean rooms

The cleaning staff were very friendly and did a great job. The hotel reception staff were not particularly friendly or helpful. We recieved no welcome upon entering the hotel for our stay and then proceeded to wait for the attention of staff despite only one other couple at the reception desk. We were given no assistance with our luggage despite their being an avaliable bell service. The complimentary internet use is confusing and frequently disconnects meaning you have to get a new code each time from the reception desk. The beach is very narrow and seemingly dangerous due to the amount of jellyfish. Would not recommend the hotel for a beach holiday. The swimming pool of the hotel does not get the days sunlight and is therefore freezing! Breakfast is good if you like malaysian style breakfasts. Alot of rice, noodles, cakes.. it would benefit from adding some healthy options.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you book superior they will give you twin beds, which was not clear when we booked as apparently the hotel has only deluxe rooms with double beds.

Good location but needs improvements

Basically i feel the hotel is located at a good location. The general hotel's cleanliness leaves much to be desired especially at the lobby, staircase and the corridors between the rooms. I feel that if the management could manage the place more firmly example with more discipline (some of the staffs were wirking in their slippers and etc). Also because i do not use the lifts, i used the staircase to go to my room on the 6th floor. All along there were so much of dusts, hairs and etc. it so happened on one of my walks up, i came across a cleaner on the 4 th floor who after obviously sweeping the corridors, just pushed the dirts that he had accumulated to the staircase. After working in a japanese multinational for many years, i feel with such an an excellent location, view, beachfront property, all the management needs to do is to insist that the manager or pic of that hotel must practice " gemba gembutsu" means see with your own eyes. He or she just needs to walk through the entire hotel daily and i think the situation will be improved tremendously. For example, the carpet at the lobby of the hotel is full of dust ( which i noticed on the first day) and on the last day before checking out, i had to check that area again and true enough, it was still so dirty and obviously no onehad checked that area for 2 days. Anyway, overall, an excellent location with nice views. Children will be happy to be able to just walk along the beach. Really hoping that the top mgmt will do the necessary to bring out the full potential of this gem.

Value for money beach resort hotel. but they do need to get all the air-cond in the room fixed and do some maintanence work on it. Not working during my last visit and takes the repair man half an hour to get it working.

Overall we satisfied with the hotel. Spacious room space. There is ironing room and easily to access from our room. Swimming pool well maintained. Nice sea view from our room. Complimentary Wifi was provided throught our stay and speed is fast! Hotel location also near to town area and tourist attraction place. Will choose this hotel again during our next visit to Penang.

When we are booking from Talyya hotel we were expecting nice, clean and good view hotel and photos was perfect. But sheets are horrible, brown and gray, also smelling so bad. We couldnt use hotel towels, lucky I brought our own towels. 3 times I asked to reception to change towels and sheets but new stuffs they brought are not different from existing. Air condition working so noisy and in the middle of night I was waking up its sudden works(noise). Balcony door was not working properly, I was not able to open or close door. My husband was working on door at least 10 mins to open and close.
Shortly from internet it looks very nice and price is ok but reality is not like in internet and workers also doesnt really care how dirty this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There is a bus stop close to hotel to go city center.

missed turning, no clear signboard from main road. check-in is slow, short staff, could do better to amp customer service level. nice, clean room, but definitely have seen better days.
no sufficient parking, no security. parked at the side of hotel, but end up with car being knocked by unknown guest as no cctv or security available.
but breakfast experience is good, f&b staff are helpful & attentive. breakfast array is good for 3-star hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Nearby amenities & local food joints, such as Gurney Drive. Should try pasembor (the guy is dancing & singing while preparing the foods!!), charkueyteow.
Just a short drive to Batu Feringghi - lovely beach, try water sport activities, horse ride & even local night market. Beware of price of pirated goods though. Always haggle.
If you are a durian-lover, then you should try local durians from Balik Pulau or Teluk Kumbar durian orchard, at road side.
