Beatiful room, nice garden and pool, and located conveniently along the main stretch of Batu Feringghi

I mainly love the location and the hotel facilities. It has a beatiful garden area for guests to relax. At night, there was dining available at the garden area with relaxing live music.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The night market is conveniently located outside the hotel, so, walking around the night market stretch is very easy. Also, there are numerous dining options nearby.

We had a great time at this hotel. The decor was a little dated, but everything was very clean and well maintained. The service was also friendly. We had a 5 yr old and a new baby and they catered to our needs well. If we go back we will stay here again.

i regreted choosing Deluxe Coastal View because the room is not facing the sea directly, only partial of it.
i was quite dissapointed with the bed when i came into the hotel room, the bed was not done to my expectations. Mine, king size was actually two queen bed put together. the bed was not properly folded and it was not neat. the pillow is not comfy enough.
i think it is about time for the hotel to do some interior changes to the room.
the pros of staying in this hotel is that the hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. ample free parking make it visitor friendly too.
Restaurant Tip:
have dinner while watching the sunset. great spread of food, and breathtaking view.

Great Hotel and Services but Food was a letdown

We have been staying at this hotel since more than 2 decades ago, whenever we are in Penang. The rooms and anything else remains the same but the food at the Coffee House has deteriorated so much. Even the food at the Breakfast buffet was not tasty anymore.
We ordered some food on the day we arrived and it was terrible. It's just plain tasteless!
However, the amenities are still good and we hope that the hotel would improve on their cuisine. it's such a shame!! and Penang is supposed to have the 'best' cuisine in Malaysia.
Nightlife Tip:
Go to the Night Bazaar just outside the Hotel. As you walk towards town centre, you'll reach a food court. there's a good 'char kway teow' stall at the end of the Right hand side of the court. the fried oyster is also great!
and if you want REAL curry, go towards Teluk Bahang. At the junction, to the left, you'll find an unassuming small restaurant called Ibrahim. The curries are to 'die for'.

View:
Stayed in the Deluxe Coastal View room & thou we were clear that we wont get a good sea view, we were disappointed as the room did not have any view whatsoever. It looked into a car park of a facility next door. There is a mosque on the side but the prayers were not loud (was worried as I had read a lot of reviews in which past travelers had cited this issue).
Room:
The room was cozy and clean & all the stuff for a comfortable stay (electric kettle, iron & ironing board, locker/safe, bath robes, slippers, minibar). One can dim the lights as per the requirements & it was extremely useful as we traveled with an infant.
Location:
The hotel is on the beach, which is clean & has a lot of options for water sports (para-sailing, Jetski etc). There are a lot of options for eating and shopping right outside the hotel. The night market starts right from the hotel gate (it does not create any nuisance and it is a 'must visit')
Overall Facilities:
Nice children's room with a lot of games which can keep the kids occupied. There are a few shops in the hotel near the reception which stock a lot of useful stuff like creams, swim suits, caps, swimming diapers, tubes etc.
Food:
Great breakfast spread. It does get a little crowded at the time of bf but the staff does an exceptional job in managing things and taking care of everyone. A lot of people had discouraged us from having meals in the hotel as it is expensive and there are good options outside. We only ordered room service once and it was pretty nice and sumptuous.
Shortcomings/suggestions:
The hotel has two pools - a normal one & an activity pool. Activity pool has a separate kiddie section. Both the pools are not as big as one would like.
Our car got special treatment from the monkeys!! On all days it got 'decorated' with monkey pee and poop!!!
Shooter in the bathroom is on the wrong side (!!!) & doesnt have a lever to control the water flow. It is like a tap with a pipe!! Probably a pract
Travel tip:
(1) If you want a view, do not stay in Deluxe Coastal View room (2) No need to carry a lot of cloths (I traveled with a truck load of beach wear) as the hotel has a laundry as well as a self-service laundry (RM 20 for washing and RM 20 for drying)
(3) Do visit the night market in Batu Feringghi
(4) In the night market, bargain like an Indian
(5) Lots of massage centers outside the hotel. Do use them. Don't expect hanky panky stuff...if you want that, go to Bangkok instead
