Fantastice Service, Location and food
Nothing, the resort is fantastic
From the moment we checked in we were treated with 5 star service. This resort is outstanding. Its very well managed and the staff are well trained and aim to please. Rooms are well maintained and over all the resort presents to a high standard. We stayed in both the old and the new Rasa wing. The rooms over the pool are nice, but the rasa wing rooms on the ground floor with private gardens are outstanding. If you like quality buffet food, then the spice market restaurant will blow your mind. It has a great choice and the standard is exeptional.

Hotel location is perfect with an own fantastic beach. The only deficits we had with the service is the check-in process was incredible complicated and took too long. When we wanted to check out in the morning the concierge was still sleeping in the back office. Rasa Sayang is actually devide into two different wing, 1 is new wing common for business trip, another 1 is an old wing common for family trip. We do not know which wing should we go when we arrived as the reception couldn't find our booking detail.
But anyway for my point of view, the room is too expensive and there are still a lot of choices to choose from by getting the same quality of room.

Excellent food and beautiful gardens
The pool was too small for such an enormous hotel
The Shangri-La was lovely but not quite what i would expected from a 6 star hotel. The pool was surprisingly small considering the number of guests catered for by the hotel. Our room didn't have a directory of facilities or room service menu, the mini bar fridge was actually hot and on the second day it wasn't restocked. That said, the bar and restaurant staff were extremely friendly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The fishing trips you can do from the beach at the hotel are great, super friendly captain and great views. A very memorable experience

It was a great experience staying at this hotel with all of the excellent services and food choices. The breakfast was more than expected and the view from the balcony everyday was charming.
They welcomed me as a honeymooner with flowers on the bed and a small cake plus the fruit basket.
Bottom line : wonderfull hotel.
Hotel Feature Tip : You should be aware that no water hose available near toilet.

A little bit far away from downtown, but the beach location guarantees great views and clean air.
I strongly recommend the RASA Wing instead of the Gaerden Wing if budget allows. Staff and service is by far the best we ever experienced, and we do lots of travelling across SE-Asia.
We felt being treated as friends instead of being customers. I don't know how they do it, but hotel management must have great trainings and incentives in place to make it happen!
Travel tip : The first 2 nights we stayed at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel which was very helpful to experience Goergetown. After that 6 nights at the Rasa Sanyang was just the right thing to do.

Excellent location, near the local restaurants and night market.

Rather far from Georgetown.
We were at first not so happy arriving at the hotel and seeing the eight-storey high building because we were expecting some kind of a resort. However the quality of the room and the view across the bay compensated a lot. Rooms are very quiet and the beds are excellent.
We had a package including breakfast and the breakfast buffet is very good and very complete. Food was excellent.
Very nice is also the garden with the swimming pool and the friendly staff to help you with towels and finding a nice location to sit. Overall it has been a very nice experience. Worth the price.
Shopping Tip : Night market and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

beautifully appointed, large rooms; L'Occitane products in room, beautiful grounds.
We arrived at the Rasa Sayang Resort and found we had been upgraded to the deluxe "Rasa" wing of the facility. This included access to the "no kids" pool (something we appreciate) gratuitous high tea and cocktail hour in the Rasa lounge (including complimentary champagne). The room was the most beautifully appointed and luxerious of any we have stayed at in S.E. Asia. It had a private garden area with table and day-bed with a gate leading to the beautiful gardens. The bathroom was beautiful with a separate shower including two massaging shower heads. L'Occitane products were provided. The staff at the poolside bar were very friendly and fun to chat with. The location was beautiful with a white sandy beach bounded by one end with dramatic huge rocks. We were only here one night, but it would be fabulous for a first class week long beach/spa holiday.

Everything about the stay was great. We were upgraded and the staff even gave us a surprise 10th Anniversary cake...
Another plus point was that a complimentary shuttle was provided to the town area.
This is the first time we stayed at a Shangri-La resort and heard so much about the "shangri-la experience and service"...everything met and in fact exceeded our expectations. Rooms are very well-maintained. Service was excellent. On site restaurants were wonderful and provided good variety/choices. Exterior and surroundings were beautiful. Staff was very helpful and always eager to help.

Very professional and friendly staff
We enjoyed this hotel for 5 nights in Nov 2008. It is the best hotel I ever visited. Nice pools, quiet, wonderful food, very clean, great staff. Relaxing and unforgettable.

Everything is nice and perfect, the hotel staff, the room, the pool... everything.
Maybe the lobby. Before they renovated the place, Rasa Sayang used to have a really big open lobby but now it's smaller and quieter.
I was there only for 2 nights weekend break, Rasa Sayang service never changed since years I've been going back there, its always the best hotel I've ever stayed. There is nothing left to say, everything is perfect.
Travel tip : Try the parasail by the beach, it's awesome.

We had a wonderful stay, the staff are very friendly and understand when to have a conversation with you or when you want your privacy so they don't disturb you. The kids loved the combination of the pool with the beach so close by. Everything is clean and well maintained and the food is just wonderful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : They have an indoor play hall (slides) for the kids on the premises in between the two Shangri-la resorts. My kids loved it and it is a nice change from the sunny outdoor activities.
