it is nice and big hotel,lobby is nice and the restaurant food is good,but the bar is far we walk too long,but i like in the red garden lots of people eat and drink there i love the seafood that i eat,,and then we go horse racing my mate likes to go there and i love it too,,,

the hotel is located near komtar building and it is convenient for transportation. the room is quite clean. the hotel staffs are friendly and have good service-mind. there are also many local restaurants near the hotel which many varieties of food are available with reasonable price. staying at this hotel is very convenient to go sightseeing by walking.

The hotel is under renovation so there will be abit of noise during the day. The hotel gym is awfully small with limited equipment. No bench press or barbells and just one faulty bicycle. No treadmills. There weren't any towels at the small pool or gym either. If you are looking for a place which is central and within walking distance to malls and eating places then this is one of the best. Rooms are reasonably well equipped. Buffet breakfast is the normal fare and I'd advise just having the coffee and fruits then going out to eat at the food stalls which is the main reason most people go to penang anyway.

the good thing is that it is located in the city centre, outside the hotel there are many people selling food. the hotel room is nice, the breakfast is just ok. the bad things is that the water in the bathroom is so hot,no cold water at all, the housekeeping is also not polite. she is just like not really happy when you ask them something. so weird. internet connection in the room also difficult to connect mostly off. not really value for money.

This hotel is great, although it's an old hotel but it keeps its cleanliness well. The staffs are also lovely. They smiled, said hello to us and tried to chat to my little girl. It's really nice to get this kind of service since I stayed in other hotel near Sunway hotel, too but the staffs didn't even look at us. The location is splendid. Just 5 minutes walk to Penang Times Square and a lot of food stall around the hotel.

if you are a foodism people then this place is the right place to stay.
street food food food everywhere.
compare to the 5 star hotel that is located in cbd (pretty hard to find a good street food)
here you can catch a bus to everywhere.
to gurney plaza, to hospital, to macalister rd.
the hotel room is old. as well the bathroom smells old. doesnt smells toilet but smells old.
the carpet quite dirty :d, the bed is ok. the room itself was ok. not very spacious but can fit 4 people (to sleep), 6-8 people (to play card/just chat)

- for romance : big no
- for business : mmm...they do provide a payable wifi at the lobby
- for health : quite ok
- for traveller : ok
- for foodism traveller : very ok :d
well that's about it. enjoy.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
well..the very first things when u arrive at this hotel.
food food food..just right in front of the hotel.
don't forget to try the char kway teow (the yummiest i found in penang) after i try gurney plaza and macalister one.
then out of this hotel. go left and go right. walk straight..then cross roads, you'll find "nasi kandar" the best!! canai and curry..yumm. and oh it's halal
and walk further there's this famous macalister road.
don't forget to buy the "bacang" or in english glutinous rice in lotus leaf (contain chinese sausage, pork, lots of salty egg yolk, etc) only rm 5.5. u wont regret it if u like "bacang"

Hotel at great location. Easy access to everywhere as there is a line of taxi waiting ..Street hawkers just few steps away from hotel. Free parking for those who drive.
Hotel in process of upgrading. the condition of the bathtub need to be upkeep.. the Power sockets in room need to be mounted well. hopefully, by the next trip that i check in this hotel, everything are fully upgraded...
