Older hotel in a very convenient location
Location is very convenient. Cheap food is just around the corner as well as shopping mall

construction is going on during the day. i stayed only 1 day so i guess i cannot comment too much as to the noise factor. breakfast was included and was pretty good. for what you pay, you can't really go wrong unless you are a very light sleeper. it is in a slightly noisier area.

all was fine except both nights there was a lot of noise from somewhere in the town below until after 0100. some sort of celebrations for approaching cny maybe ? it was chinese singing. no real probs as i always travel with earplugs! there is also no bar which i found surprising when i wanted to meet a friend there, i thought we might be able to chat over a drink, but no!

stayed here three nights and it was a pleasant enough stay. the location could be better. there is not much to do in the area. when they are finished with the renovation it will be a lovely hotel. the free breakfast is the usual cold eggs affair of a buffet style. the staff made my stay.
Shopping Tip:
The Penang Times Square is a short 5 minute walk for some shopping and food.

hotel was relatively easy to locate. reno was ongoing in the day time. room std was below average. quite run down in the toilet. the road below the hotel has road stall up at night with local food. there are quite a number of shopping malls around. but not all shops are occupied.

The hotel is near to the hawker centre and the food is just next to the hotel which is very convenient for us, it is also near to the bus stop (Komtar station) so it was easy for us to take bus!
The size of the room is reasonable but I thik the bathroom can be bigger, facilities are a bit old but are acceptable for short stay.
Limited choice for breakfast and the hygiene needs further improvement.
Anyway, we get what we expected from the price.

Great Location and Hospitable staff
Very Central and conviently located in the heart of Georgetown where everything you need is within walking distance!

for most of my visits to penang sunway hotel remians my preferred hotel as there's easy access to good hawker fares and public transport available to nearly the whole island ... the superb location is within walking distance to komtar (the tallest building, tenanted by mostly government offices, in penang), time square and the famous penang road shopping belt.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The Hotel has not been renovated/upgraded for quite a long while and the tradeoff for the "Fantastic" location is probably the old furnishing but otherwise well-maintained. The Buffet breakfast is also good compared to many others that I've stayed in Malaysia.

the hotel is located in a prime location for both business and leisure. it has access to some of the best eating and shopping places in the town area. i didn't need to use my car as komtar and the prangin mall are conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel. you may get good local prices on goods and also local food. want to go for a massage? places available right there in the mall.
