Nearby all shopping centres within walking distance and yummy hawker foodstalls.

The hotel is 20 years old. Definitely needs an update.

I stayed with my family which includes 2 kids ages 9 & 7 in a deluxe room. Beds are only for 2 adults. My kids were not fussy sleeping on the floor and we had a pleasant stay there. Although the swimming pool was small but it was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The check-in was slow as they had only 1 staff working on Sunday. Don't expect luxury!

Shopping Tip : All major shopping centres are within walking distance. Just by the corner of the hot is a yummy hawker centre that comes alive at night. Don't miss the food there.

This hotel is located in a very strategic area, nearby bus station, shopping center, and a lot of hawkers in front of the hotel every nights. Many varieties of food offered nearby hotel. Staffs are friendly are helpful. Bedroom and bathroom are spacious. Overall this hotel is very recommended to stay during your vacation. Selection of foods in buffet breakfast is also variety.

A lot of non meter taxi in front the hotel, so better to think twice how we would like to spend our money for transportation.

I like to stay in this hotel. Although overall hotel is not a luxury hotel, and interior looks old, but they provide good service and facilities. Fitness equipments are still in good condition, and swimming pool area is very clean. I would love to return and stay in this hotel.

Restaurant Tip : A lot of hawkers in front of hotels, and this hotel also surrounded by restaurants with affordable price. Wide selections of food are offered, from Malay foods, Indian, Chinese, and may more. Halal foods are also easy to find.

Superb location whereby street food stalls are just outside hotel. There is one 24 hours HappyMart around the corner. NewLane Cafe operating 5pm to 3am selling bak kut teh, dim sum and stuffs. 24 hours Mamak cafe across the shophouses also the stalls of seafood and noodles n etc. Times Square is 2 minutes away walking but it is still empty during my patron. Hotel itself has friendly and helpful attendants. Iron is provided. Hair dryer is available but its of the old version attached to the wall.

The amenities of hotel looks old. Water flows are yellowish, rusty bathtub and cabinet. Requested for king sized bed however its only probably not up to queen sized. Tv is new, however small.

Due to late check in we were told to being upgraded from Deluxe as King sized bed are full. However, I cannot see any difference of upgrade. Paid RM40 for 24 hours internet usage. Seeing the amenities in the room, shall give free internet usage for Deluxe. Restaurant is just besides lobby at limited spaces, seeing that we were not interested with the breakfast provided. Sunway's status has always been luxurious for me however, this is not what i expected.

Restaurant Tip : Food of variety are available around. Newlane hawker stall is a must try. The coffee shop next to Happymart, at the left corner junction, spot for one uncle selling Hokkien mee, I love it! the soup is superb.

The Hotel was clean and there is bath tub in the toilet.

Counter Staff support was bad, unable to provide solution, keep saying they need to follow instructions from the agency from thailand. This is the 1st time that we eat breakfast @ hotel and need to pay! We check in late but was not allowed to check out late which make us have to loiter around penang without a place to rest.

We were greeted by friendly staff upon our arrival to the hotel. The hotel was clean and we are satisfy with the hotel room size and cleanliness. Hotel was located at a good location where assessibility to food and shopping Mall are easy.

Shopping Tip : Alot of food and shopping area where you can find cheap things around the hotels

Great location for shopping around Komtar. The night market is located directly below the hotel, plenty of variety of food. Great hotel service, check-in and out is simple and fast.

Dated decorations and carpet with stains. But it is still good value for a hotel room at such a great location.

We spent 4 nights (28 Dec - 1 Jan 2010) at Sunway Hotel. During the check-in, the hotel staff was able to provide us with a high floor, non-smoking room with 2 single beds. The room was clean and well maintained throughout our stay. The Best Thing about the stay was that we had a room facing the Penang Bridge and was able to view the wonderful fireworks display during the New Year's Day celebration.

Good front desk, room is clean,

Door latch broken, musty corridor

Stayed there for 1 night. The front desk were really helpful and got us into our room in record time. Plenty of parking lots for cars but there's no lift to service it. The doorway to all the rooms are musty as it's quite an aged hotel. But the room is clean and big. The latch on the door was broken but the lock seems sturdy. Didn't bother us to leave our belongings inside. Would recommend for anyone who loves excellent Penang Hawker food as it's just a stone's throw away.

Restaurant Tip : The hawker stalls located near the hotel serve some of the best Penang hawker food.

close to KOMTAR and within a walking distance to Penang Road -bus, cabs easily available, if you don't drive

Hotel quite old -the bath tub seemed clogged.

We -my husband and me , reached the hotel about 12.30 -and asked if there's any room available for us -the staffs at the reception were not very helpful -they told us the standard check in time is 2pm -which we are aware of -but in most of the places we've stayed, we are allowed early check in. We were given room around 1.15pm. Hotel is not very new -the bath tub was somehow clogged, and yes not sound-proofed -loud musics from downstairs and can hear people talking outside. I think the hotel is overated -more to 3 star. Breakfast just normal nasi lemak, mee hoon, sausage -nothing too fancy. the porters were more helpful and friendly compared to the front office/reception staffs

Easily accessible, clean

Not much entertainment after midnight

This is one of the stay in Penang, the other stay was at beach hotel, in comparison, beach hotel is much more fun. However, the staffs are friendly and helpful.

The location of hotel is very strategic. very close to food hawker, close to mini market. So anything you need, you can find easily.

The hotel is very crowded, the occupancy rate is very high that is why check in and check out time is very tight.

I love this hotel and the location. Even I have a bad experience in the check in process but it can be covered by the service and the location. I have informed that my flight is in the morning so I need to check in earlier, but still we cannot get the room soon. we have to wait 4 hours to get the room ready. But in the other hand, I am very satisfied with staffs they are very friendly and very helpful. They can give useful information about Penang. And a lot of food around the hotel.

No in room safe and having to go to the waiting area to get WIFI. Service from Gift Shop staff.

We (Family of four) stayed there for two nights in December 2009. The hotel exceeded our expectations in many ways. The breakfast was of a good standard and typical of what you would expect. I am not aware of what menu variations there are though as we left too early for breakfast on the day of departure. We had issues booking a Taxi to take us to the early ferry to Butterworth as we just got told to go and see someone else all the time. It appears it should be done by the gift shop staff but they did not want to know about it and said it took 1.5 hours (???) for a 2/3 km journey. Eventually one of the Porters took it on himself to ring a friend who he knew and he came and picked us up etc. Thanks.

Shopping Tip : Don't bother going to Times Square. Go shopping at Gurney Plaza which will cost for a taxi ride but the best shopping in town.

Great breakfast, attentive staff, lovely spacious rooms with great views of the city, iron, kettle, mineral water, everything u need really, plus a gym/pool if you need it

Cant think of any really - ok, well breakfast wasn't great for vegetarians but they do do omelettes.

What a welcome relief to check into the Sunway - quality hotel with well trained staff -the welcome drink was a nice touch - house staff were very efficient with the cleaning, with a concierge and lots of staff on reception. Breakfast was great too

swimming pool. the place is near with hawker centre, more accesible to nice food.

the lift is very inefficient, very slow to reach you the water is very weak and the hose is spoilt.

if compare to traders and Cititel, it's more far than them. If you dun mind walking, then it's OK. The receptionist at front door is helpful. But the receptionist at the counter is very slow in processing. Besides, there is no common phone at each level public area, so, if u have any problem entering the room, u have to go down to look for them, very troublesome.

Location. Hotel is in the middle of town with a street long of food stalls beside it. The buffet breakfast was good too.

Furniture seems a lttle run down. They could work on it but it was ok. The receptionist did however make a blunder with my booking and soon rectified it.

Overall my stay there was good but they should refurbish as their furniture seemed a little run-down. Buffet breakfast was good. Enjoyed the breakfast a lot. Location wise was good as we could walk to Chowrasta Market and so on. There was a stretch of food stalls near the hotel too. I would also advise the hotel to sound proof their function rooms as there was a function going on during my stay there and could be heard until my room. It was overall a good stay!

Shopping Tip : Walk to Chowrasta Market in the morning for good bargains.
