The hotel is right near the old quarters, so very convenient for sightseeing. The staff is very polite and helpful, and the quality of the service impeccable. Breakfast is great too! The hotel is a bit on the old side. We got a playpen instead of the proper baby crib that we asked for. We stayed for 2 nights at Traders in Georgetown and were very happy with the quality of the service there. The rooms were a good size, with good views of the city through enormous windows, which made it seem like we were on a much higher floor. Housekeeping was so good they changed the towels and tidied the room twice daily. The beds, pillows, and linens themselves were very comfortable. Every time I called reception, I was greeted by name. There was even a flashlight in the room. We had breakfast at the hotel and the quality and variety of the food is commendable. The hotel is also at a great location, just a few blocks away from the sights of the city and right next door to a shopping center in case you forget your swimsuit (which is what my husband did). There was even a mini golf course on the rooftop. All that at a very good price.

Restaurant choices limited in the area (though some good popular places exist offering local dishes) April 2009 - I had been to Penang before and decided, this time, to stay "downtown". This was a pleasant experience. The hotel is located within easy walking distance from the Marina, the Museum, bus terminals and next to a major shopping complex offering great bargains. Free access to the Internet is a plus. As a matter of principle, I always give priority to hotels offering this service.

good service, middle of town, quiet and clean no valet, car park was small traders hotel was a good place to stay in. Its in the middle of town as well as near lots of stalls to eat at. staff was helpful and friendly. hotel was clean and peaceful. only thing is that they did not have a valet.

Very good service and be sure to pay the extra for the Club Lounge worth every cent. We loved everything about this motel. From the moment you arrive it is amazing. Definitely 5 star with great service. The club lounge was great and worth the extra money. We are now always going to consider staying in Traders Motels.

- Very Good Front services This is the first time in penang , It is very nice trip I booking Trader hotel,this is very good decision to booking there. Front services got very good take care they will help you when you have the problem ,take cake with the smile. I found the comfortable room clean room etc. I think this hotel is good for all of purpose to visit.
Shopping Tip : We can walk on the roofing road to shopping at the right and behide the hotel.

love the warmth of the staff and seafood buffet on every fri and sat wat can i say that i havent already said in my past reviews?
love the pool area, rooms are nice and clean, spacious..staff helpful and friendly
close to town area where the historical places are and shopping is jus around the corner
food is also easy to find as most of the famous penang fare is around town area
getting around is easy bus stop is behind the hotel tho some of the busses are terrible.....advise u wait fr the rapid penang busses which are cleaner and more orderly...in a sense dat they do not cramp people in like sardines and the seats are cleaner ad more comfortable....staff treats people w respect unlike the other bus drivers and 'herders'

Central location and good car parking. the staff were very helpful and the hotel is well located with a very useful underground car park. We had dinner there and although ok, it wasn't that great for a 4* hotel. That said all in all this hotel was good with no gripes. I had stayed in the traders in KL a couple of nights before and that hotel was far superior.

The front desk is extremely helpful, the room and bath are clean and well maintained. Noise from poolside party was too loud and carried on until midnight. Overall, I have a great time there. The pleasant and extremely helpful approach from the front desk made the stay extremely enjoyable. As I have booked 2 rooms, they made the effort to ensure we have a connecting rooms and even gave us a high floor as per my request. Also, the location is great, there is many food and shopping places nearby. We used the hotel as the base for our walkabout in the old town and did not require taxi service as the hotel is located at the edge of the old town.
Hotel Feature Tip : If you are staying over the weekend, try to avoid rooms facing the pool just in case there are pool parties as the music could be quite loud.

try the traders club rooms due to the free internet, snacks and drinks.
You can get a free shuttle bus to / from hotel to sister resort in Batu Ferringhi Area ok, not too picturesque though Well, we decided to return to the traders for a 2nd visit and were not disappointed. We chose traders club rooms again and took advantage of the free shuttle bus to the sister Shangri La resort at Batu Ferringhi beach, which was nice and had great pools and facilities ! WE loved the traders lounge breakfasts, having steak in pepper sauce for breakfast one day, and delights such as eggs benidict... MMmmmmmmmmm. The staff were really helpful this time around, and it seems the recesion has impacted on the clientele meaning more families and travellers are staying as opposed to buisness travelers, this made us feel more welcome than last time around (see last review in Nov/ Dec 08) The benifits with the free hors dervs and drinks from 6 - 8pm saved us alot of cash too! We managed a nice leisurley eat and merriment from 2 hours of free wine, spirits, fresh cooked food and snacks. Thanks again traders, and agoda !

It has all the facilities that you require. Good location. Free shuttle to sister hotel on the beach. Dissapointed that breakfast wasn't included in the price. Some staff members didn't seem very approachable. I wanted to stay in a secure hotel as i am on my own. After staying at Traders in Kuala Lumpur i definately wanted to stay here. It's a nice hotel but didn't seem to have the edge that KL Traders had. It may have been the staff. When i arrived they didn't seem that welcoming and i felt like i had to keep asking them questions about the hotel, where they should have been telling me. The pool is nice but again i felt like i had to ask where to go to get changed because it's not clear. The room was quite nice and had all the mod cons.
Travel tip : There's a free shuttle bus to their sister hotel. It is right on the beach and i have to say looked nicer.

Hotel was really good and value for money Hotel is not in a great location. There is nothing to do around the hotel The Traders Inn was excellent for the price we paid.The restaurant in the hotel was really good. We had the Indian curry and veg Risotto and both were made very well. However, the hotel was not in a very convenient location. There was nothing to do around the hotel. The hotel claimed that they had free shuttle to Batu Firangi, but the last shuttle was at 5:30 in the evening. This was useless as Batu Firangi opens up in the night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Might be easier to book a room at Batu Firangi instead of George town

Central location to anywhere in Penang The parking in the hotel may get too congested if there's a function took place in the hotel since they only have 2 floors of basement parking which could be too full and you'll have to wait for a long time before you exit frm there. I've never failed to stay in Traders Hotel Penang whenever i travelled there. The room is so comfortable. They do have a fitness studio where i normally do my workout early in the morning after a heavy dinner on the night before. Just at the back of the hotel, there's a shopping centre where you can get all of your necessities. The customer service is great too.

what cons!!!! the car park for not being air conditioned???? what a lovely place to stay and unwind.....im from penang and when i return this is the place i stay because everything suits my family....the rooms are big and clean, bathroom too... room amenities are what you'd expect....pool was nicely warm and not too small....food esp the fri and sat buffet is GREAT value for money!!! i always make it a point to stay on a friday or a saturday just to indulge in the buffet!!! the staff was very professional and friendly and the service was good. location is right in the hearrt of georgetown with the famous penang hawker fare within walking distance or short cab ride.

include breakfast if possible My first time staying in this hotel was during C.N.Y me and my wife like this hotel so much, nice toilet, clean, good services, safe, good location, easy to find, valued for money we will tell our friends. We ordered breakfast in the early morning, they have sent to us on time, this will save alots of our time which our ferry to Langkawi was booked early in morning. Thanks for the services provided.

Clean, comfortable rooms. We chose the hotel for its price point, and found that it is also quite clean and has good service. The location is somewhat far from the more touristy parts of Georgetown but not more than a 15-20 minute walk. We did have breakfast and it was mediocre. We appreciated the discounted price, and felt it was worth it, but it would not be at full rate.
