The staff is outstanding.
Traders Club floor is worth it. On reception and club.
Shuttle to sister hotel at the beach. What a nice weekend we had. We stayed in “Traders Club” rooms and it is well worth paying for the premium. You have your own reception in the 16th floor and they supply food, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks, etc for free. You have nice views from the city. However, I recommend taking breakfast in the lobby where there is more variety.
The best of the hotel is the staff. They were so nice!!! We claimed that we were on a honeymoon and they gave us a cake as a gift in our room saying “Happy Honeymoon”. The room is at par with world-wide high-end hotels.
The hotel is at a 10min walk distance from Penang Road’s top bars and restaurants.
We took the hotel’s free shuttle to its sister’s hotel in the beach and spent the day there. NOTE: Please make sure you book ahead a seat in the shuttle with the concierge.
We will definitely stay there again!!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take the 11am tour at the "Blue Mansion". It is protected under the UNESCO.

Friendly and helpfull staff which was important for me due to being discharged from hospital and staying during my recovery for 4 days. It did take a long time for my room to be cleaned, which was usually after lunch each day....but maybe this is because they do not have enough cleaning staff? I arrived at the hospital directly from an operation at Island Hospital, and I had difficulty in moving around much. The staff were very helpfull and attentive to my needs during my stay, and I really appreciated this. They even offered me a wheelchair. In addition to this I had internet in my room and was able to spend 4 days there recovering while in comfort. The dining room has an excellent buffet which I am sure helped in my recovery also.
Hotel Feature Tip : Try the buffet, there is such a great selection to choose from.

Located in town close to shopping centre and transport. Rooms very nice service is excellent the AC is always on high and no way to off and adjust I stayed at two hotels in penang and by far traders was second to none. Friendly service very nice rooms and resturants in very conveiant place.
Shopping is close by for those who require food and holiday items. I would stay again when and if come back to penang,

Directly beside the bus station, Georgetown historical centre very close. I spent 2 nights at the Traders in the Club Rooms. The hotel was right at the start of the historical area. The service in the club rooms were really good value and the service was very hospitable.The shuttle bus to the sister property in Batu Faringa is a must the property is on the beach with all the facities avail to book to your room back at Traders. I would recomend this hotel for service and location. The hawkers food market is also only a 5 minute walk away.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A trip to penang hill is a must, but get there early as it is very popular and the finicular(Train) leaves every half hour

Traders Penang is suitable for those who like a busier city environment. Shopping is certainly easy with Prangin Mall and Komtar just next door. Local food is abundant within 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. Besides the location in the heart of Penang,the service is typical Shangri la which is efficient but not too friendly. The room that I was in was a deluxe but it was comfortable and a little bit tired, especially the bathroom. Overall, it was not too bad for value.

Five-star hotel at a reasonable price. Comfy rooms and friendly staffs. Taxi parking just outside the hotel, i.e. no need to wait for taxi. Nice swimming pool and gym area. Deluxe Room is a bit small, if compared to other hotel. Since this hotel is by Shangri-La, there is no complain on the quality of the service you get, and with prices lower compared to other five-star hotel, this is a must if you want to experience a five-start service. Nice pool area and a great gym area for the fitness buffs. Hotel lobby is always surrounded by nice relaxing musics, not too loud and not too soft, just enough to relax your mood. Highly recommended.
Restaurant Tip : make sure you go to hawkers street at night just 10mins down the road from the hotel. Great food at great prices.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Kuala Lumpur that offers style, service, location and excellence then look no further. Traders (Number one hotel in Kuala Lumpur according to TripAdvisor.com) is managed by the Shangri La group and perfection is their aim. From the minute you walk through the door the professionalism of ALL the staff is evident. Rooms are spacious, spotless and beautifully furnished. The breakfast buffet is better than any hotel we have ever stayed in and, should you have a club room, the food available in the club lounge is just as good. Get a park room and you are overlooking the Petronus Towers, really a magical sight at night. Its walking distance to Bukit Bintang yet far enough away from the crowds if you prefer a peaceful stroll through the park right outside the hotel. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.
Shopping Tip : Bikit Bintang is the place to go if you are looking for cut price shopping.

The service was overall excellent. Staff were very nice and willing to provide assistance. The rooms were a bit old, though still very acceptable. The bed was really comfortable and the room was very nice. It was good to have shuttle bus to the Shangri-la Resort near the beaches and be able to enjoy the facilities there. In general I had a fabulous time at the hotel and i recommend anyone who will stay in Penang to choose it.
Restaurant Tip : If you are finding the hawkers for some mid-night feasts, no need to take taxi, just turn right and keep going straight after you get out of the hotel. The food place there was just lovely.

Parking was very small and gloomy. I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The room was nice even though it looks a bit old. The bed was super comfortable. I stayed on the 15th Floor and the view was magnificent. Good place to stay if you want to discover Georgetown on foot. Food at the hotel is a bit expensive but a lot of food outlet nearby the hotel. Hotel staff was very helpful and made my stay very pleasant. Recommended. A+

The hotel is right near the old quarters, so very convenient for sightseeing. The staff is very polite and helpful, and the quality of the service impeccable. Breakfast is great too! The hotel is a bit on the old side. We got a playpen instead of the proper baby crib that we asked for. We stayed for 2 nights at Traders in Georgetown and were very happy with the quality of the service there. The rooms were a good size, with good views of the city through enormous windows, which made it seem like we were on a much higher floor. Housekeeping was so good they changed the towels and tidied the room twice daily. The beds, pillows, and linens themselves were very comfortable. Every time I called reception, I was greeted by name. There was even a flashlight in the room. We had breakfast at the hotel and the quality and variety of the food is commendable. The hotel is also at a great location, just a few blocks away from the sights of the city and right next door to a shopping center in case you forget your swimsuit (which is what my husband did). There was even a mini golf course on the rooftop. All that at a very good price.

Restaurant choices limited in the area (though some good popular places exist offering local dishes) April 2009 - I had been to Penang before and decided, this time, to stay "downtown". This was a pleasant experience. The hotel is located within easy walking distance from the Marina, the Museum, bus terminals and next to a major shopping complex offering great bargains. Free access to the Internet is a plus. As a matter of principle, I always give priority to hotels offering this service.

Very good service and be sure to pay the extra for the Club Lounge worth every cent. We loved everything about this motel. From the moment you arrive it is amazing. Definitely 5 star with great service. The club lounge was great and worth the extra money. We are now always going to consider staying in Traders Motels.

food is also easy to find as most of the famous penang fare is around town area
getting around is easy bus stop is behind the hotel tho some of the busses are terrible.....advise u wait fr the rapid penang busses which are cleaner and more orderly...in a sense dat they do not cramp people in like sardines and the seats are cleaner ad more comfortable....staff treats people w respect unlike the other bus drivers and 'herders'
