Amazing, serenely beautiful place to stay
Peaceful and quiet ambience, gorgeous view from the big, spacious and comfortable room, friendly staffs
8.3
i was travelling to terengganu with a friend for a quick getaway from work. although at first i was hesitated to place a book, after reading a few comments of the negative side, i knew we got nothing to lose anyway. i did my reservation via agoda.com and didn't even double checking with the resort afterward. we arrived around 5pm, the staffs were pleasantly friendly. we were startled with the beautiful view of the lake- that's when i know things will work out just fine. at the moment we stepped in our room, i was speechless as it was more than my initial expectation. the balcony facing the great big lake offered you a breathtaking view, gorgeously stunning that makes your jaw dropped. the room was spacious so does the bathroom. they provided complete set of toiletries, an iron with the ironing board, and even electrical mosquito repellent. the fact that you should bring your own mosquito repellent is totally optional. we were okay without one. the next day, we went to have breakfast, with the amazing view again of course, and my expectation of the food is again was above par. the breakfast was served ala carte in huge portion and there were delicious! by 10 am we took their boat ride, visit the herbs island and went to saok waterfall with another 2 swiss tourists. although our tourist guide was not fluent in english and there were times when we assisted him with the foreigners, it was still ok, afterall, he was more than friendly and obviously had tried his best to explain. we enjoyed our stay to the fullest. it was a beautiful place to stay, although i would like to recommend you to visit this place during weekdays - if you are the type that favour peaceful atmosphere without too many people around. and yes the best period to come would be all year round except during the monsoon season, oct-early jan. we would recommend this place to family and friends. and we will definitely come here again in the future
Travel tip:
I was not sure about the way you should be prepared for your dinner here since I followed advices on packing our dinner before arrival. The nearest town was about 15-20km away. I would suggest you to have some meals/food in handy if you're here for a one-night stay. If you plan to stay longer, go ahead and try out the food. I'm sure they'll taste just fine.

Run down facilities and limited food selection
View and quiet location. Natural surroundings and hornbill sightings
6
The pool was closed when I was there so was very disappointed. Fed back to the staff and they did not say anything or try to remedy the situation. Lunch and dinner selection of food was so so and held ransom to the kitchen as there is not much food available after 6pm outside the hotel. Think the spa has been closed for years but somehow I got the impression that they offered spa services either from the photos or website so was disappointed again when there wasn't. View was fantastic and a boat ride around the lake is highly recommended.
Room was beautiful and large, watch out for mosquitos so bring repellent if not you are in for a very itchy time. Hornbill sightings around the resort and free star fruit hanging from trees made it a bit more fun.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The boat trips are cheaper if you take them from the public jetty just outside the hotel. You can get water and other supplies for less than half price at the same place.

great location, poor management
the location is very serene
5
The hotel is located right by lake Kenyir. There is a lot of wildlife around, including monkeys, squirrels, and toucan birds. The hotel accommodation is large and comfortable.get a lake view room, the other rooms have no view of anything. Unfortunately, the hotel is a bit run down in parts, and needs maintenance. The room had a leaking toilet and roof. The food at the restaurant can be OK, but also very bad at times, the evenings in particular. The staff do not seem to care too much. Gazhali at the tour centre stands out as being very friendly and efficient. The hotel could be great but seems to suffer from poor manangement
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The tour centre has some good tours that are reasonably priced.

Great location and very relaxing, but.
5.3
The location is very beautiful and very quiet, great for spending a few days relaxing. I would recommend the lake view rooms, the other rooms have no view at all, which defeats the whole purpose of being here. The staff at reception are friendly. Gazhali at the tour centre stands out as being very welcoming, efficient and friendly. Some of the other staff, the restaurant staff in particular do not seem to care. The food at the restaurant can be OK at times, but can be very bad too, usually in the evenings. This is a great shame, and there is little other choice nearby as the hotel is remote. The rooms are large and comfortable, but do suffer from lack of maintenance. The room had a leaking roof and leaking toilet. Some of the tiles in the bathroom were falling off, not surprising as they were only put on with grout, no adhesive at all! The hotel could be really great, but seems to suffer from poor management.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The tour centre at the hotel offers some interesting trips. Gazhali was great!

Lake Kenyir, Terengganu's Hidden Treasure
Scenery is very beautiful, nice place to relax away from the city, staff were very friendly and helpful

we stayed at a lake view chalet (rm300, breakfast included) which has a wonderful view of lake kenyir. the chalet was clean and spacious, the bathroom contains a dressing table and wardrobe so it's about 1/3 the size of the chalet. the inside looked a bit old but is still good. the buffet breakfast was decent and had their fish and chips (rm15) for lunch which i would recommend. try to go for the ala carte menu instead of the buffet for lunch and dinner.
buffet dinner looked nice but felt is was overpriced at rm55+
there aren't many other eating options nearby so keep that in mind. there are decent mamak places on the road to kuala berang but you will need your own car as the one we ate dinner at was at least 8km from the resort. the road to kuala terengganu from lake kenyir doesn't have many street lights so be careful when driving at night.
there is a park not too far from the resort near pangkalan gawi which looked like they had eating places but they were closed when we were staying there.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The 2 Lake Kenyir attractions I would recommend are the Lasir Waterfalls (RM70 per pax, 3-4 hours, minimum 3 to go) and the Kelah Sanctuary (RM120 per pax, 4-5 hours, minimum 6 to go). For couples you need to make a booking at the office in the lobby next to the kiosk so they can arrange for you to share the trip with other guests. If you visit Kenyir during the weekend (Friday - Sunday, Terrenganu's weekend is Friday and Saturday) you shouldn't have a problem finding people to share these 2 trips as they are quite popular.
For the Kelah Sanctuary we went when the river level was low (middle of September) so the boat had to stop a bit far from the normal jungle trail. We had to trek along the shallow river with big stones which can be torture for bare feet or along the knee deep muddy banks. Along the way we also had to cross the river twice where the water reached up to our necks so wear clothing that dries quickly.
My advice is be prepared and have good waterproof shoes/slippers because you can/will get wet and take off your footwear when walking in the mud.
It was an arduous trek but I felt it was worth it in the end when we got to enjoy seeing and playing with the Kelah fishes in the sanctuary. Unlike regular fish they are not afraid of people and they will approach you when you enter the water to nibble your feet and hands. If you like fish spas you will probably like this even more. If you don't mind touching fish and fish nibbling at you I think you will find this experience very memorable.

Very Private, Cheap and Peaceful Resorts
Lakeside View is the best location
8.7
Value for money. At MYR180, manage to get a Lakeside View Room, huge room for family. Facilities are full and at good conditions. Scenary of the Lake is excellent especially during dawn. Very peaceful as well.
Got Astro channel, fridge, safety box, iron board, everything all in at such price. I can rate this resort as 4 star resort but with a very low room rate. Got deer farm, can take a bot trip around the lake. There're 14 waterfalls around those lake.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Boat Trip and Lakeside View Room.

A little drama during the check-in
Very nice view, good food
7.3
We walk into the resort asking for a room, but the receptionist said said theres no more room available and turn us away. Since we were looking for a room desperately that day, we hop online and found theres a room available through agoda! Thanks to agoda. We are very disappointed the way check-in was handled that day.
Anyway..the room was very clean and cozy with beautiful view of lake kenyir..food was very good.

okay rooms, awesome service
7.7
this is probably the most convenient hotel to stay in should you wish to visit lake kenyir. View of the lake was excellent too. The rooms were okay, bathroom could be further improved. Looks really old. But still, bearable. Service was great too, especially the tours desk. You can book tours and borrow games there too. Restaurant wasn't that great and that was the only option for food. However, do try the fish though, it's pretty good.

Nice & big room
friendly people & hotel staff
6
We stayed at a chalet with Lake view during the 2 days stay at Lake Kenyir Resort. The room is big and with spacious bathroom. just cannot stand the smell in the room seem like it had been empty for a long time and also the smell of bird drops. I can hear mouse running on the chalet ceiling at night time. During the stay there was communication break down in the whole resort so every time have to rely on my own hand phone to call hotel reception for buggy pick up. The worst part is limited spread of food especially breakfast.
