Great location and lovely beach that was never very busy so had it to yourself most of the time. Very relaxing atmosphere with good choice of activities if you want to be more active. Excellent spa with a range of treatments
Service wasn't always that of a top 5* hotel - waiting staff in particular were at times slow and not very attentive. Service didn't always feel personalised. Food quality was generally excellent but felt that menus lacked choice and creativity - we were bored after a few days of eating the same thing.
All in all a very relaxing place to stay in a fantastic location but service and attention to detail could have been better to match that of other top quality 5* hotels. We felt that some personal touches were missing.

The rooms are FABULOUS - just the best, most comfortable bed. Most of the staff are exceptionally willing and friendly although they fall down in the delivery of good service.
There could be bins on the beach. Very disappointing to see litter lying around. Some of the front desk staff were quite sour and rude, wouldn't even look up and acknowledge your presence. The restaurant couldn't cope with the long weekend influx of guests. The service was so bad that we ended up cancelling our order. Wine is outrageously expensive.
The packed lunch on the snorkelling trip was awful. I feel that the management missed an opportunity to do something special, such as barbeque fresh fish on the beach and serve it with a few salads. Not so hard to do.
The spa needs to be renovated. I thought it looked old and tired and grubby, especially for the price.
Although we had a great weekend, I wouldn't go back. I thought it was overpriced for what it delivered. When paying around USD300+ per night, I expect a lot more for my money. Although the staff tried really hard, and were exceptionally friendly and helpful, it just fell short of my expectations. If it were a bit cheaper, my expectations wouldn't be so high. There is a general sense of not quite meeting the bar in all areas.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The snorkelling trip was wonderful. The two guys escorting us were knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. A very good day out. The packed lunch was pretty awful though.

Reception architecture (note not the service itself) and
Spa - highly recommended
SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE,
Architecture and facilities (outdated),
Food (Restaurants are way overpriced and lacking in variety..not to mention quality)
After hearing so much about the reknowned Tanjung Jara and being Malaysian originally, i could not help but want to be patriotic towards my country and support our industry. But this lesson taught to me to never think that again. Not only was the stay a complete lacklustre experience - starting from young and inexperienced team (both in reception and restaurant), to the so hyped-about 'di Atas Sungai' restaurant which we felt was a complete rip-off (RM 60 for a small plate of beef Rendang and RM 80 for a locally caught Red Snapper??!).
The Spa was the only best thing left for this hotel. The beach is nothing to rave about (yellow and rough sand), the surroundings green but mosquito infested, and the rooms are....average for a supposedly 5-star resort.
And oh...there is not air-conditioning....anywhere! Whilst some Europeans/"Westerners" might find that environmentally friendly, I personally do not find it very pleasant to sweat like a pig while u eat.
