The location is very nice. Good dive-center. Nice staff.
Restaurants is to expensive.
This is not a hotel for backpackers. This hotel is perfect for couples wanting a bit more luxury than just a hut on the beach. Very nice location and a good staff. Six nights a week there were even live music at the beach-bar. The only real downside is that the restaurants is to expensive for what you get (food and service). Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 11 nights and it was a perfectly relaxing vacation with good diving and sunbathing.
Restaurant Tip : Just outside the gates of the hotel there are Chinese and Malay restaurants with good food and much better prices.

Perfect location
Comfortable large bed
Cold AC
Great breakfast buffet included with room
Bathroom-toiled didn't flush well and shower had no pressure
This was by far the best accomodations on tioman island, and well worth the extra money. Everywhere else we saw had no ac, private restroom, many with no air conditioning.... definatley stay at berjaya to be comfortable! Cold ac, great location, delicious free breakfast buffet, large rooms (chalet) very private and relaxing. Rengis island is right off shore of the resort, you can rent reasonably priced kayaks to go out there and snorkel the best reef on tioman! Turtles, rays, many fish! We loved the berjaya, and it is the only place we felt safe eating-good resturant! Hope they might fix their restrooms though.... Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Kayak out to rengis island (very close off shore from the resort) and snorkel there-awsome!

The Berjaya hotel is definitely the biggest one in the island with most services available and best facilities. There are e.g. a golf course, two nice swimming pools and a PADI diving centre. It goes without saying that everything in the hotel area is a bit over priced based on Tioman standards.

The hotel is well kept up with a gorgeous beach and swimming pool. There is free (albeit very slow!)internet connection in public areas and the public areas are quite nice areas to sit and work. I had a king deluxe room and the room was quite lovely, very spacious, right on the beach and clean. Sunsets sitting on the beach are amazing. There is a hotel shuttle that meets incoming planes and ferries and the incoming staff give a really warm reception. Housekeeping staff and ground service staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very isolated and there are no shuttles into town that are available to guests.
Food is an issue: There is an evening a breakfast buffet that was fine but pricey, the a la carte menu is very pricey, limited, and not that good.
There is very little to do aside from swimming and sitting, and all of the recreational facilities (ie. pool, exercise room) close down at 7:00 pm.
Reception staff were often not helpful and did not have information that I would expect they are frequently asked about: for example, they never had the ferry schedule until the night before -I know a schedule is posted several days in advance (I saw it!); similarly, they did not have bus schedules into major places (ie. K-L or Singapore - since they only have to be concerned with what leaves Mersing, this really isn't that complicated!) They didn't have phone numbers even so that the guest could call and try to organize! This made trying to figure out how to get off the island difficult.
If you are looking for a place to detach from the world, relax and do nothing, this is the resort for you! The beach is quite amazing, lined with lounge chairs under the hut umbrella - do get up and claim yours early though because there are not enough and they are usually taken by 10:00 am! I spent my days sitting on the beach, swimming and reading. I really looked forward to the ending my day, watching the sunset as the waves rolled onto shore It was amazing!
I was happy with my accommodations. I had a king deluxe room and it was more like a small apartment - it had a sitting area, a table with four chairs, small fridge, flat screen TV and a very comfortable bed. It was clean and well-maintained during my stay.
The resort itself is very family friendly, very low key and relaxed. It was quite an amazing place to go to re-energize!
However, it can feel a bit claustrophobic. Tioman Island is fairly isolated to begin with, once you get to Berjaya you really feel totally cut-off! Getting into the small town - where there are a few shops and restaurants - requires a shuttle into town and Berjaya only provides this for the purposes of arrival or departure. I tried to co-ordinate with the reception to go in when the shuttle went in to do pick-up and drop-offs - the reception staff were not helpful and gave me the distinct feeling that my request was a major problem! It's really a shame that the resort doesn't offer a shuttle periodically throughout the day and early evening - this would greatly decrease the sense of feeling a bit stranded.
Part of the reason I felt so stranded was that food was expensive, and certainly not outstanding. The a la carte menu was very pricey and boring. I would have liked to have tried some of the local restaurants which were substantially cheaper and more interesting, but trying to figure out how to get into town was a major deterrent! (I tried walking once but encountered a big snake on the way).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do organize to take a water taxi to see other parts of the island. Solang Beach is worth seeing and there are neat (and very cheap) restaurants available).
There is not much available in the shops in town near Berjaya, but what is available is cheaper than elsewhere on the island.

The only thing that I feel that is meeting the standard in the resort is the massage session.
- Pathetic beach with crane parking at beach side.
- Poor customer services which we received the staff response such as "This is not my responsibility" when the staff did not take our luggage to the lobby on time on the check out day, "Your snorkelling trip booking is not in our system" when I already paid the full amount in advance before I reached the island.
- Untidy room which one of the bottom part of the bed is not put on with the bed linen. Also, We added extra bed, however the extra bed just left outside the room until we need to call the staff to help us to setup the extra bed in the room.
I went to Pulau Tioman during Chinese New Year, we had a good time there, however, it could be better if the resort we stayed could serve us better!
we felt quite dissapointing when we reached the entrance of the Berjaya resort in Pulau Tioman. The landscape is not well maintained. The golf course is having a lot of dried grasses. Upon check-in, we got more disappointed when we walked into the room. We were keep thinking whether we go to the wrong place, wrong resort? Is this the room that we rent from Berjaya?? We rent 2 rooms, the rooms are just not meet to the standard of a 4-star resort.
The food in the resort is just OK only and I don't feel have appertize to take my meal there. Most of the time we had our meal at a nearby Chinese Seafood Restaurant which is by the seaside and with sea view! We enjoyed our meals there!
Overall, this is a very bad experience for my first time staying at a Berjaya resort. The price we pay for the room is just doesn't worth it!
Restaurant Tip : Walking distance (about 5 minutes) to the nearest sea view Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Reasonable price and tasty food.

- friendly staff, clean chalet, nice accomodation, nice swimming pool (bar in the pool), very good restaurant, peaceful SPA, very quiet at night, free shuttle from the boat/airport
Some restaurants are maybe a little bit too expensive, but still, very affordable
Very nice resort for quiet family holidays or exciting single trip. Nice place if you like to dive / snorkel. People on the island is very friendly, so you wont be disappointed with this resort. The beach is clean, the water transparent and you can enjoy a cocktail in the swimming pool, wonderful! The resort organize daily trips (snorkeling, trek or both), very nice to have a look at the island and the other smaller islands in the surroundings.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Snorkeling around is just wonderful. Diving is even better!

Clear water in the beach.
Area is big.
Nice facilities such as gym, tennis court, game room.
Deluxe room is dirty. Too many defects inside the room.
Poor service in recipient counter.
Dirty food in Bali Restaurant.
The rock and seaweed should be clean up at the beach to make it look better and safer for diving and swimming.
Improvement in food.
Train the efficiency and manner at front counter.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The beach was quite nice, a lot of fish around in shallow and clear water.

Rooms are spacious and kept clean, amenities are more than expectations, staffs are friendly, food is good. Beach and garden is well maintained and it makes the entire trip relaxing and rejuvenating.
Pricing of the food is slightly expensive for the Malaysian standard.
Customer service provided by the hotel staff is excellent, friendly and prompt. Can't ask for more. Transportation between jetty is an added point for the good customer service. There's a complimentary welcome drink which comes as a surprise to me.
Hotel Feature Tip : There are an abundance of local restaurants just within walking distance of the resort. There's also an abundance of duty free shops and internet cafes near the resort.

Food and service at the hotel was better than I had anticipated (based on other reviews). Good location and for a particularly large resort the atmosphere was relaxed and informal.
The "Fishing trip" offered by the resort was a shambles - No fishing rods were provided, only line and bait and we were left waiting over an hour and a half for the boat to arrive. Other customers complained and the trip didn't take place - On a plus, our money was promptly returned to us.
Having read many other reviews of this hotel I was slightly worried about my stay at this resort but, on the whole it was marginally better than I had expected. It's billed as a luxury resort and I would say that the comapany are bending the truth a little with this but our room was very comfortable (albeit over-priced).
I would neither recommend nor discourage other travellers from staying at this resort - Its simply OK.

Excellent service, hotel staff very helpful, great scenery, great room, the food is quite good.
The beach is not the best. Few activities organized by the hotel.
Berjaya Hotel is an excellent place for you to rest, and have an extra energy. Everything is really well organized. The staff is really friendly and helpful which makes you feel quite at home. The island gives a lot to do, so 5 or 6 days would be quite enough. If you are looking for a chalet, the standard room are really good, and have the actual appearance we looked for. The other rooms are bigger but, the appearance of a small building takes the romance out of it.
Although there were lots of options, we mostly ate at the breakfast restaurant. Unless you eat a lot, there is no need to choose buffet, if you order the food on the side it would be less expensive and with the same quality.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Definitely you should do the jungle trek to Juara village and have a bite during the sunset, on Air Batang.

Nice ambiance. No pests etc. Only problem is that the waiting time for the food is a little long. Quite and cosy place. A little costly though. However, it was one of the better places to stay on tioman. Good activities organized and staff were friendly. Never a dull moment.

The food
Nice service and beautiful smiles :-)
Missed the little extra to call it deluxe - room.
Not to well maintained both in and outside.
Beach in front of hotel, not very good, lots of stones and some dirt.
Hotelroom to expensive, prices way to high according to expected standard. The rooms missed the little extra to earn to be called deluxe suite. Bathroom old and worn down. What about giving fresh fruit free on the rooms by arrival - or every day? Excellent food, nice and smiling staff giving good service. SPA was good, pedicure could have been better. Even with these comments we had a nice and pleasant stay. One swimming pool was out of order, and did not look clean.

Good band singing at the swimming pool. For a short time, though.
Room furniture slightly old. Toilet and bathtub dirty.
The first day when we checked in was tiring. After driving five or almost 4 hours from Singapore and a 1 and a half hour boat ride. It was tiring. We arrived at the resort about 10 am in the morning. When we tried to check in we're told check in timing was at 2 pm, but we've been issued with a room number so abt 1230 pm,we found our room empty and conquered it while waiting for the housekeepers to clean it up. When we're hanging out at the pool the bartender is friendly, but his skills in making a good cocktail is terrible, I hereby suggest everybody to stick to beer and forget about whatever other alcoholic drinks. Then there this band the goes around the pool bar and they sang extrememly well. That really add on a executive feel you have in the resort. The rest, well, just look at the ratings!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do not miss the snorkeling trip and the happy hour at the bar.
