The resort is just amazing!!
It is a very secluded area, where you will have the upmost privacy as there's only 13 villas in the resort!

We had a wonderful stay. It was a very relaxing time for us and also a chance to escape from the city.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The room itself needs upgrading as it's a little old and dirty.

Quiet resort with a castaway feel
Quiet resort on a beautiful island
8.7
Such a beautiful island. Well worth a visit (and may be more return visits to come) after first hearing about this paradise more than 20 years ago. Resort is small and really quiet, and facilities frankly not that great. But that is how I like it, without the trappings of the big brand names. The hillside sarang is really well designed in Malay style (I suppose), great for a getaway for doing absolutely nothing! Nice fruits and food as well, and surprisingly at very affordable price.

Beautil setting with beautiful friendly staff
i loved the setting . it was exactly what i was looking for, a swim, peace and quiet and lots of relaxzzzzzing
9.3
i loved my time at japamala resort.
i stayed in the tree top chalet which was about 120 steps from the beach. so i guess not so good for older or less fitt people. i was there during monsoon and often travellers were gathering in the dining area as there was internet access.
i thought it might be a great idea for japamala to have a few games available such as chess or backgammon. having said this i had a lovely time, got fitter due to the steps and would go back in a flash. the staff was friendly and very helpful

Beautiful resort with great food
Really good food, location, snorkeling reef, nice rooms

The rooms are not fancy but very comfortable. We always had dinner at the pier but that restaurants accommodates only six tables so if it is buys come early, have a cocktail and watch sunset. The resort does not have mobile phone connection but it has wifi in most areas.
Recommend signature Thai massage, did it twice, excellent!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Definitely go on Ringis island snorkeling trip!

Lovey hotel, beautifully done
Location, view, beautiful structures, use of wood was beautiful

Was a great resort and as there were 3 of us, stayed at the Penghulu's hut. The rooms were very nice and only problem was that they air conditioning in one of the bedrooms did not function well as the power supply was inadequate. This happens usually during the warmest part of the day.
The restaurants were nice, especially Mandi Mandi - its a very nice expierience.
Breakfast was very good, the home made jams were to die for.

A little slice of paradise
Secluded, great service, very much in nature
9
We actually got upgraded to a Jungle Luxe Sarang as the Tree Top was being repaired. That said, it wouldn't have made too much a difference--Japamala is a little slice of isolation for those who need to recharge from the daily grind.
Let's first be clear -- on the grounds themselves, there really isn't anything to do but eat and hang out at the beach area, or hang out in your room. Those looking for activities, they are available for a price, but we chose to sit on our butts for 5 days.
Also, let's also be clear -- you are isolated (can only get to Japamala via boat transport), and you're in nature. Nature = Insects. I'm not saying the accomodations aren't nice, but when you're this directly close to nature, there is only so much you can do to avoid ants and such. That said, because we were so much in nature, you could easily see monkeys just hanging outside you window every day, or monitor lizards (like 5-6 ft long ones) walking by behind your bathroom.
Food-wise, we thought it was ok. We thought breakfast was the best meal, but a lot of people seem to like the food overall. Ask for less salt, and the food is pretty decent.
In short, if you are expecting a super ritzy resort with activities, this isn't it. But if you're expecting a very nice resort that's about as accommodating as possible given how well it is integrated into nature, this is your place.

Great Hotel
Small, exclusive and very relaxing

Great stay. There is some construction work which closed the jetty restaurant on a Sunday night which was a disappointment . Other than that small glitch, recommend!
