Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa Maldives Info
Spread over two idyllic islands on the South Male Atoll, Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa promises an ultimate getaway. From the airport, guests will be transported to the resort via a short 35 minute private speedboat ride. Once arrived at the resort, 68 beachfront villas, over-water suites and luxurious beach bungalows await. Each bungalow perfectly combines an island charm with modern conveniences and amenities. By request, guests can experience an array of unique activities, from cooking classes, yoga on the beach, and snorkeling, to sailing, kayaking to an island for a private picnic on the beach and windsurfing. The facilities include fitness centers, and tennis courts on each island, a library and a magnificent freshwater beachfront infinity-edge pool. For dinner, the resort features open kitchens and table-side cooking at their gourmet restaurant located at Anantara Veli.
Check-in time is 14:00, an overnight rate will be charged to guarantee check-in before 14:00 hours. Check-out time is 12:00 on the day of departure. Late check out is subject to availability on the day of check out and the following charges may apply – prior to 18:00 hours-50%room rates and thereafter a full nightly charge.
Children under the age of 12 years will be provided with an extra bed or baby cot when sharing a paid room (maximum 2 adults and 2 children per room) on a complimentary basis and 50% discount on meal plan. •Infant (age less than 2 years) sharing with minimum one adult shall only pay applicable government Bed Tax. Currently USD 8 per child per night.

Reasonably-priced. Excellent food. Fabulous ambience in restaurants. Since it's one of two properties in the Maldives, guests of either resort can hop on to the other at no charge. Not as private as I would have wanted it to be. I could hear staff talking to one another and walking around in the early afternoons. Only two very slow computers for free Internet access though wifi is complimentary at the hotel lobby and other common areas but wifi capabilities do not extend to the rooms. It was my first time to the Maldives and I wanted to make sure I chose the "right" resort. I had read that it was crucial to find the right resort at the Maldives as it was not possible to hop from one to another for a change of mind. Well, I did not make a mistake in my choice of Anantara. We stayed at two oceanview villas. We could see the lovely sunset from our villa every afternoon. The food was fabulous. We took to private dining most times as did most people at Anantara. There was a good mix of guests in the hotel- couples and families were fairly represented.
Restaurant Tip : The Thai restaurant is not to be missed. The ambience is unforgettable in the middle of the ocean and the food is excellent! But it's a long walk to the restaurant on stilts so this is not for those with disabilities.

I think Anantara is a great hotel; great service, rooms, views etc. If you are taking an overwater bungalow, make sure you have one of the last ones, closer to the ocean - better view.

Overall, not a bad resort. If you want top class facilities but dont mind putting up with substandard service, this is a pretty good choice. But go to another resort like the Baros is you really want to be pampared by good and friendly service. Expect to pay a lot more though!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The good thing about Anantara is you get to go on snorkelling excursions any amount of time without incurring any extra cost. At other resorts, you have to pay around USD40 per person per day.
