Medhufushi Island Resort, Maldives

After having read mixed reviews on tripadvisor, prior to our trip, we went to Medhufushi and were more than pleasantly surprised. A great destination in the middle of the big blue that is still untouched by Man. Whist the sun was not always on our side (but remember, it's the equator, so showers are expected), we came back with wonderful memories a relaxed body and mind...and a great tan. We also met great people on the resort especially on the snorkling trips which are, in our opinion, a must. Whilst some reviews will try to put a negative tone on the island not having its own reef to snorkle, we were treated to free boat rides when taken to various sites, where we saw manta rays, white tip sharks, white spotted eagle rays, dolphins, tortuses and a plethora of other marine life. Despite having no 'resident' reef, we went snorkling on both sides of our island (East and WEst), and saw plenty, as the lagoon acts as a nursery for a myriad of marine life that one finds in the Maldives: black tip sharks, lemon sharks, sting rays, trigger fishes, zebra fishes, turtles...to mention a few. Whilst some complained that they wanted soft white sand...all we can say to them is go to Disney World on your next trip! The island to us was simply as nature intends it...a little rough on the edges...with schells in it's sand. Afterall, they are corral islands! The bungalos: rustic meets luxury. very large considering that one spends most of the time outdoors. Our'cabin boy' who comes to clean up twice a day was beyond friendly and ensured that we lacked of nothing. The food was out of this world! We definitely ate too much...but it was hard to say 'no' to the mouth watering display of never-ending feast, that catered for all palates and cultures. Welldone and thank you to all the Medhufushi staff. You made our stay a memorable one.
