The cost of dining was ridiculous, and the overwater bungalows are in dire need of refurbishing. Also, some of the staff were really helpful, but many could not care less.

I traveled with a friend to a destination usually recommended for honeymooners, but our stay was nevertheless unforgettable, despite some rainy days and a very expensive boat ride from and to the airport (around USD 300 per person).
There is lots to do in terms of water activities: Snorkeling (they give you free gear to keep for the duration of your stay), scuba-diving, kayaking, windsurfing etc…
The food is great. There are many different restaurants to choose from. Expect to spend an average of USD 60 per person per meal. The breakfast buffet, although not very big, is exceptionally good.
What made our stay so memorable was definitely the staff. No matter who you ask (be it the Food & Beverage Manager herself or Kamal our great pool attendant) or what you ask for, everybody is always so willing to assist, and with a smile!
Truly a great experience.

fantastic resort but very expensive

this is a first rate property with well appointed and well maintained "over water" villas. there are many great looking and near identical resort islands in the maldives which are less expensive but i have only seen the other properties from a yacht just off the beach so cannot comment on service or room quality at the other similar resorts. be prepared to pay a lot for your villa at anantara veli resort and be prepared for a big shock at the prices charged for drinks and meals!! least expensive option is the thai restaurant which has excellent food and wonderful staff. this is a quiet and peaceful resort so if you're looking for night action go somewhere else. on the other hand if you're seeking serenity in a beautiful tranquil location and you put perfection before price then this is the place.
