Somewhat disappointing
Great food at bufet, (but don't try ala carte)
Cocroaches in the bathroom (and who knows where else), clueless staff at reception, dive shop service below average

5 days stay at Madoogali
House reef, privacy
Less variability in food
The accomodation itself is nothing fancy but definitely not bad, rooms are quite dark but spacious and the AC is nicely quiet. The beach is very close (just few steps) and depending on the house number, there are places on the beach among trees where you would feel quite alone (unless somebody goes around). It is difficult to swim there as the corals start very close to the beach, but I'd say this is the big advantage of this place - you can snorkel directly in front of your house and damn it's good. Corals are very close to the surface so you'll get good shots with your underwater camer (a lot of light) and if you're lucky, you'll meet sea turtle.

Excellent resort
Great house reef, location close to uninhabited and inhabited islands, seaplane landing in the middle of lagoon.
Food very similar night after night with too much curry, no nightlife, excursions rarely reached the minimum required number of people and got canceled frequently
The island of Madoogali is located in Ari Atoll, which is west of Male' Atoll. The seaplane ride to the resort is said to take 25min, but when you add up the time that you need to get by bus from Int'l terminal to seaplane terminal by bus, stops that might be added during your seaplane transfer and the delays that might arise because other people in other resorts are not on-time, and the fact that you will land in the middle of a lagoon and taken to madoogali by Dhoni, it can add up to 2-3 hours. However, the seaplane ride was well worth the 300USD/person for me. On both arrival/departure, me and my wife were the only people for whom the plane landed in Madoogali. I think pretty much every bungalow is at most 20seconds walk to the beach. It was windy the last day on our beach, so we walked 2 minutes to the other side of the island, and it was calm enough for snorkeling. We were the only FITs in the island, and I guess apart from us and 2-3 other couples the rest of guests and even some staff were from Italy (so there is also pasta and pizza every night apart from the Maldivian dishes, olive oil and balsamic vinegar and white clean tablecloth on every table.) Overall, I think the hotel was excellent except for party animals.

Nice island, average hotel
The island itself is small and very nice
limited trips / poor food/ no entertainment
In the dining room it is allowed to smoke, even at breakfast. During the meals people are almost fighting for the food and one has to be fast enough to get the best bits and the one choice of fruit available. If you arrive too late, the best will be gone and is not often replaced. For most the Maldives is a once in a life time experience, so i would recommend finding another resort that has more facilities and less of the mentioned negatives.

posizione centrale per immersioni, spiaggia, shark feeding serale
deludente.
