great beach and snorkeling house reef
reef,beach,buffet variety and quality
8.3
make sure the reservation states beach villa with ocean view some of the regular priced villas only have garden views. The deluxe beach villas all have ocean views. Half-board has to pay for water at supper and during the day. Most regular villas are 2 side-by -side units, while the deluxe villas are single units with more privacy.flight to Reethi resort is 45 minutes at around $325 per person.

Fab little island
Small enough to feel intimate but big enough to have a variety of things to do

Love love loved Reethi. Very unpretentious, very laid back & lovely. Barefoot for dinner was a common occurrence & even the games rooms has a sand floor. If you can push the boat out get a water villa - amazing.
Nightlife Tip:
If you're expecting late nights, try somewhere else.

Lovely resort with friendly staff
several areas with easy accessibility to snorkel directly off the island, great staff, large room
8.7
We just got back from our stay at Reethi Beach and are already longing to go back. We had a deluxe villa - so the middle of the road option, which was wonderful. We certainly didn't feel like we were missing out on anything by not being in a water villa.
There are quite a number of restaurants to choose from on the island, but you'd better like spicy food. Another potential down (or up) side is that there isn't wi-fi in the rooms, just in certain places at certain times of day.
The resort offers Robinson Crusoe excursions, which I highly recommend. They take you to an uninhabited island and leave you there for a few hours with a picnic lunch and water. It's truly paradise.

Good value, however service & food lacking quality
Good value, great beach and reef for snorkelling
5.3
Great place to stay if you are looking for a value resort in the Maldives, with a great beach and reef for snorkelling.
However, the staff didn't follow through on promises they made to help us with a couple of issues we had, and the restaurant food was terrible at times (e.g. 'Minute' steak, is a slither of meat and a plate full of chips), and ok at other times.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you're staying on the beach or water villas, the lower room numbers are in the best locations.

we satyed one week, diving club is highly professional, guides are kind, patient and knowledgable. hotel staff gives superb service. The sea was a bit wavy during the week, I don't know if in another locations the sea is less rough due to different structure of the reef

Perfect relaxing retreat
Gorgeous beach, friendly staff, wide ranging dining options, house reef

this was my second trip to the maldives - i enjoyed this place far more than the other, smaller island i stayed on the first time. this was mainly due to two things:
first: very friendly staff, including our favorite waiter santhosh and plenty of others (ie the german girls in reception who were willing to print out endless crossword puzzles for us).
second: a wide range of places to eat - helpful for my wife who has some food intolerances, but also for me since it can get boring to eat off of the same menu for 3 meals a day for 7 days. while the prices are of course higher than in normal life, the quality was good as was the wine list - we never felt like we were paying too much for bad food (and paying too much for good food is a nice problem to have.)
we did not choose the all-inclusive package, because we wanted the freedom to dine wherever and whenever we wanted, and also to drink the wine we wanted. this was definitely the right choice for us; both costwise and because i think if we ate every meal in the (large, buffet-style) main restaurant it would have felt like a very different week. most days we had lunch at the pool and dinner at the reethi grill.
the island is above-average in terms of number of beds, i think, but it never felt crowded: it is large enough to wander around and also to give everyone their own stretch of beach.
seaplane transfers were simple, air conditioning was good, shower was good - really every little detail was just as you would hope. we were late returning our snorkel equipment...they did not charge us. there was a mandatory new year's eve gala dinner (this was true of every resort we looked at over this period)...and the range of food was surprising; they tried a lot harder than they had to given everyone on the island was mandated to pay for it. in short there was never a point at which you felt like they were taking advantage of being the only option you had - they really wanted you to enjoy it.
Hotel Feature Tip:
We stayed in Deluxe Villa 125 - I would say this was a lucky but ideal choice: you face the sunset, you are on the leeward side so the waves are more subtle, and you are far enough from the main bar that the sound doesn't carry, but close enough that it's not a far walk. Villas 100-120 are closer but then noise might be a problem; villas 140+ might feel too far (though closer to other restaurants and the pool).

Beautiful, good value, amazing service - just book
You can spend ages on this island just snorkelling, enjoying the sun and relaxing.

stayed in the water villa (free upgrade) - i had a walk around and despite what other reviews say there is a difference staying in these instead of deluxe. you have a ladder behind the villa that goes onto your own reef.
i could just spend days on the sun deck tanning then go for a relaxing snorkel behind my villa without even locking the doors.
the reefs are ok - saw sting rays, parrot fish and plenty of other colourful fish. coral was not so colourful.
in terms of food - b&b is all you really need. ate two nights at moodhu restaurant - amazingly tasty and good value. reethi grill was just as good.
honestly, if the included breakfast is indicative of the quallity of the main restaurant food it is not worth it.
seriously, tho, amazing experience - just book it if there is a deal!!
Restaurant Tip:
Don't go all inclusive - allow yourself to experience the other awesome restaurants.

Nice hotel, location and service
Beautiful house reef, dive center (Sea Explorer)
9.3
it's very difficult to write about the hotel - to be short: everything was fine in our 2 weeks stay. as highlight i'd like to give few warm words to the dive center - the best dive center i saw in my life. it is expensive in terms of the world standards, but normal for maldives. and the cost is nothing in return to the service provided. very friendly and highly qualified staff, very good equipment, nice planning, individual attention to the diver needs/wishes... i can continue this list as long as i want...
one short note related to water activities (please remember - it's my personal opinion) - organized snorkeling trip wasn't worth the money. the same or better conditions are available on the house reef any time free
Hotel Feature Tip:
The best entry point to the house reef area is opposite Reethi Villas numbers 175-178. For snorkeling/diving addicted I'd suggest it as best location.

affordable paradise
water villas, staff, location, moodhu bar/restaurant
9.3
we honeymooned here 11-18 dec 2012 in water villa. it was heaven. the rooms are simple but have all that you need & for the price you pay compared to most other maldives resorts we researched, it's fantastic! staff are all lovely, especially salim at the water villa bar & sontesh at the pool bar. we literally did nothing for a week & couldn't have been happier. the spa was nice but pricey do unfortunately only had one massage. we did the dolphin safari on speedboat which was great & the technical tour was very interesting. did some snorkelling & saw some really cool fish but the coral is all bleached. coming from australia we are a bit spoiled when it comes to snorkelling, stunning beaches & sunsets but we still loved all of these elements in the maldives & they made our honeymoon just perfect. overall reethi beach is a lovely place to get away in a casual, relaxed atmosphere with stunning views & friendly staff. note - the tides cause the island to constantly change so the best water villas for sunset were not fully submerged for some parts of the day. it changed during the 8 days we were there though. didn't affect our stay as we could step straight down off the balcony into the water every day except the first when the tide was out slightly, then it was like stepping off the deck onto your own private beach!
Restaurant Tip:
we paid for bed & breakfast only because we were on honeymoon & wanted to eat alone at all the restaurants, plus we'd get bored and really fat eating buffet meals 3 times a day. we also drank quite a bit (3-6 cocktails each afternoon/evening and shared a bottle of wine for dinner 4 nights, plus juices & shakes during the day & bottled water) and we ended up spending heaps less than ai. we ate & drank like kings, whatever we wanted & were pleasantly surprised to discover that at the end of 8 days our total was $1555 usd. this included a dolphin safari for 2 at $55 each, plus $95 in the spa & about $100 in the gift shop. it worked out at less than $100 per person per day which we thought was very reasonable given the quality of the food at all the restaurants. as honeymooners we ate for free in the saima garden restaurant one night & the four course meal was amazing. the food there was a cut above the rest & i would've been happy to pay for the experience if we had not been offered it for free!

Lovely resort with the best service ever!
10
We had a wonderful honeymoon with Reethi Beach. Service was excellent at all times. Staff could even remember our food preferences just once after going to the restaurant! Smiles were aplenty and greetings were given everywhere, and we can sense that it really came from the heart of the staff there. Ambience there was very comfortable and relaxing.
Water Villa was beautiful with corals and fishes just outside the villa itself. However, the waves can be a tad noisy at night that may disrupt sleep. Smaller unit numbers of water villa (201 to 208) can see the sunset but there are some islands in front of the villa (thus will not get to see a clear view of the sea from the balcony). Middle unit numbers (209 to 230) have clear views of the sea, but the ladder steps right into corals/rocks.
A great suggestion is to go to Reethi Beach. While there may not be high end 5-star facilities like the most expensive resorts around, the facilities are good and sufficient a comfortable enough for a typical traveller. The price paid is definitely value for money.
We look forward to visiting Reethi again next time.
