The guest house is located in the local island of Guraidhoo where the Government regulations require that guests do not wear bikini or similar swimwear while in the area. However, the hotel can arrange excursions to picnic islands for guests where these restrictions are not applied.

Transfer to Guraidhoo Hotels

To reach the hotels in Guraidhoo Island, a public ferryboat OR chartered speedboat can be arranged by the hotel for which payment will be collected upon check –in. Please contact the hotel to book your transfer arrangement at least 3 days prior to your arrival. Your arrival and departure flight details and full names of traveling party will be required.

Public Ferryboat

• Ferryboat takes 2 hours to reach Guraidhoo Island and costs approximately USD 2.00 per person per way.

• Ferry departs from Male’ at 14288644 :30 hrs / Ferry departs from Guraidhoo Island at 07:00 hrs

• If your flight lands AFTER 13:00 hrs, you will need to take the speedboat transfer or make arrangements to stay in Male’

• NO Ferry services on Friday.

Chartered SpeedBoat

• Speedboat takes 45 minutes to reach Guraidhoo Island and approximately costs USD 200 - 250 per trip (one way)

• Advance booking is required for speedboat transfer

Otto K. Solo travelers Finland, April 10, 2013	Nice, but needs to improve Nice atmosphere at local villge, great diving around Guraidhoo 5 The staff was very nice and gave great service. Still the hotel owner/managment need to work on some issues. He/They seem to overbook the place on purpose, so they they changed people to other locations. They even tried to put me to some local familys upstares for two nights because they had overbooked the guest house. I had to four times and that´s not what I was looking for. Yet the local atmosphere was really nice and there was great diving around the island.

Its not the typical resort - at Rip Tide, the staff and owners care about you and go out of their way to make your trip memorable. You are welcomed into their lives with warmth and hospitality. It is a cheaper option for those wanting to explore the best of the Maldives without the fancy accommodation price tag. Staying on a local island does have its drawbacks but all the day trips are very affordable and flexible.

Local Music Bodu Beru
Bodu Beru is similar to some of the songs and dances found in east Africa. It is likely that the music was introduced to The Maldives by sailors from the Indian Ocean region. It may be said that Bodu Beru known commonly as "Baburu Lava" (Negroid Song) first made an appearance in The Maldives in the 11th Century AD, or maybe before.
