Beautiful island with nice snorkeling area

The island is small and quiet, the hotel service is OK, sometimes, the service is slow. The restaurant is very nice and employees are friendly and helpful. The island is a good place for snorkeling. The diving center is very helpful and provide free snorkeling tools.
Travel tip:
If you want a better snorkeling experience, you should rent the light lifejacket from the diving center instead of the lifejacket in your room, which is quiet big and heavy and easily to drift away align with the wave. With the light life jacket, you will swim much easier.

Maldives is a Paradise and Vakurafalhi resort is a great place to spend you vacation in paradise. The Water Villa is amazing, the Ilaa resto's food was great.

Wonderful resort with amazing snorkeling!

Picturesque resort in Maldives with a pristine beach. Some of the best snorkeling I've ever experienced in their amazing house reef. Resort is cleaned constantly and all staff attentive and helpful. The water villas are amazing but the beds not that comfortable. The food is buffet style, but great quality and suits all tastes. Free evening tea is a plus. Drinks are reasonably priced at 8-9 US$. During happy hour (7-8pm) the drinks are half price - excellent value for an expensive resort. Not a huge nightlife, as the environment is more a honeymoon style with couples sticking to themselves. It is a very quiet, relaxing and worth the trip.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If budget allows, go for a water villa.

We enjoyed our honeymoon in Vakarufalhi Island Resort, the rooms were quite big with open-air private bathroom (2 showers), private beach, great, warm water and amazing reef, very colorful. We really liked the food, great variety of food with varied cuisine from all over the world, we had a great stay!

Magnificient island resort with a wonderful reef

After a very warm welcome we enjoyed every minute in the resort and our beachvilla. Even some rainy days were no drawback. A lot of opportunities to do things like excursions, games (indoor and outdoor) and snorkeling or diving in the nice housereef. The food was excellent as well.
Hotel Feature Tip:
A very warm welcome, but a pretty cold farewell. If the seaplane is delayed, please inform the waiting guests and maybe offer them some (complementary) drinks.

Beautiful on the ground and underwater

Room:
We had a beach villa. We did see the water villas and they are nicer, but we wanted to stick to our budget. Upgrade costs $100/night. The beach villa was of a comfortable size, bed was alright and bathroom is semi-outdoors. It has a double sink, an indoors shower and an outdoors shower. There is no bathtub. The water villa on the other hand has a semi-outdoor bathtub that overlooks the sea which is nice.
Resort grounds:
The island is a beautiful small island and you can go around on foot in around 15 minutes, and can also swim around the island. The sand is white, but it isn’t powdery all around the island. It is softer at some parts of the island than others. In some places particularly at the back of the island it is a bit hard to walk on barefoot- there was some dead reef that makes it hard to walk without slippers. Mosquitos are not a problem, the island is sprayed often and I wasn’t bitten once. My husband says he was once but it’s nowhere as bad as other tropical places we’ve been to.
Reef:
I am not a certified diver but I did a Discover Scuba Diving dive in the house reef, and I snorkeled everyday. Even for non-divers there is plenty to see. If you start to snorkel at the jetty and go around the lagoon you will see plenty. There is a marine biologist that does a free snorkeling trip around the lagoon everyday. It’s worth it to go, she dives you show you some fish you cannot see and does a brief explanation about it. Her first language isn't English, and the explanation was done in Italian then she translates into English. I saw a stingray, clownfish, lionfish and plenty of parrotfish &sweetlips when I snorkeled.
Food:
The chef of the island is Italian. The food is international cuisine with some Italian emphasis.There are theme nights for dinner (BBQ, Italian, Arabian, Sri Lankan, Maldivian, Far Eastern). A unique experience

We stayed in a beach villa for 5 nights in October. I can only descibe the weather as prefect, clear blue skies, warm sunshine and a cool breeze. You can walk barefoot all day on the island if you like. The beach house is beautiful, the high ceiling, wood feel and amazing outdoor toilet feels like a tropical paradise. Full board is the best way to go not having to worry about cash. The only thing I paid extra for was the excursions and occassional drinks. There is a buffet 3 meals a day and tea time around 5. The food is delicious with theme nights everyday so it doesn't become tedious and barbeque on the beach sundays. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall I highly recommend a visit to Vakarufalhi. Special mention about the band, Ambaa who play once a week a the bar, wild bunch of guys who love to please the crowd and DJ Mano who is equally sensational.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The spa is really a nice treat.
