Great honeymoon spot

We were at Vilamendhoo on our honeymoon, and it was our first visit in the Maldives! The island was magnificent, the staff was lovely and not bothering you, the food was good for various tastes and it didn't become boring with the passing of the days. The beach villas were perfect, each with their spot in front of the beach. We also had only 1 day of tropical storm, which was real exciting and fun, and it didn't last long so did not ruin our stay at all :). The pool was also lovely and very relaxing.
The whole island was like a gem, and we really hope that we will return soon there.

my husband and i spent a week there. we had the all-inclusive package, which comes with the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. we enjoyed the food so much! we could probably eat that buffet for a month and not get tired of it.
rooms are kept clean, but there are a lot of ants, which i think is the only minor down side. other than that, it's a great place, and we would definitely go back again.

Four of us stayed in a pair of semi detached chalet, my children's are adults and the resort has separate facilities for those families with minor kids so dinning and bar lounges are different, especially for those wanting quite winning n dinning experience without having to put up noisy kids. Best features are the house corals just meters away in the crystal clear water, need not go scuba diving to enjoy one of the most pristine marine life. The chalets are serviced regularly all the times, for those with all inclusive package, the beers are replenished as often as you request, very good value considering beverages price can be very expensive , even drinking water n sodas can be costly. With the package u can hang around lounges n have cocktail n snack almost whole day thru. We enjoyed our stay very much, it is a must to do snorkeling , otherwise you'll miss the best of Maldives.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Male is not worth visiting, dull in daytime n dead at night, can't even find a decent restaurant , n no a drop of alcohol in the whole town, ironical indeed, you can drink your hearts out in the resorts but can't buy a single can of beer.
Beware of the touts at airport who offer free city tour and claim to be like from your resort special service, if say u have idle time in transit n wish to check out Male, best to leave luggages at airport left luggage counter @ US$ 5 per piece, then to leave them with the touts. All u do next is walk across to take ferry @ US $ per pax, this take u directly to town centre, but believe me , there's nothing at all that's worth seeing except for the experience that u've been there,done that.

Very limited choice of tropical fruits at canteen.
Surprisingly, I did not see the big choice and availability of various seafood like lobsters, oysters, and other delicious species of fish. Normally it is not a problem at seasides in all over world.
The stones and coral pieces shall be taken out (cleaned) of lagoon zone, where people could injure feet.
Fishing shall be arranged at more comfortable and professional way. We were ready to pay even more provided that fishing staff and boats are of good level. Pls buy a good and big fishing boat which could go to open sea where u could catch what u need.
No kids zone with required fscilities is arranged where parents could leave the children under hotel nursery care.
Fill in the Boashi pool with sea water, but not tap.
Pls make the evenings more interesting and attractive.

the hotel is not very small as most of maldivian islands are - 40 minutes walk around the island. go for water or beach villa and you will enjoy it. its better to be right next to the spa - where the most beautiful beach, spa, infinity pool and palms are.
Restaurant Tip:
try tepanyaki at Asian wok. Restaurant next to sunset bar is a fine-dining (all-inclusive package covers it) restaurant with grill and hot stones.

We visited with a large group of 34 people (families with children) and we all loved this hotel. My day looked like this: breakfast around 9am, swimming in the ocean till 11:30, lunch around 12:30, nap around 1-2 hours, beach volleyball for 1,5 hour + gym for stretching, spa massage once in 2 days (try oriental massage), dinner with friends and drinks outside by the ocean or show/karaoke at the main bar...we absolutely loved it!
Restaurant Tip:
If you want ome privacy visit Asian wok (Tepanyaki) and Sunset restaurant (child-free)

I chose all inclusive plus which includes boarding and all meals and water and some softdrinks and some items such as 15-minute massage and free sun-set cruise.
Very clean and comfortable room with a yard where bathroom is located. I like that. Meals are good with many types of food and fruits.
Very beautiful scenery with clean sea water where you can swim near the beach. You can see many fishes even sharks in the water.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you take your child with you, then you can only live in beach villa, while water villa /jacuzzi beach villa is not allowed.

Wonderful paradise get away

Amazing hotel with exotic views you can only see on posters. This hotel has a surrounding reef that is as good as it gets. The beach is also amazing with leaning palm trees and lot of privacy. Food is great, we were there for 10 days and not s ingle time was any of the main dish repeated. Try the Chinese Wok for sashimi in the evening and watch the small reef sharks at the same time.Water Villa gave us an experience of its own, we were in water villa # 330, the last one there is making you feel as if you are in the middle of the ocean. I am glad we made this choice as there are tons of other hotels out there. Truly above our expectations, only small downside is the cleaning person - dont expect to get 5* service - you have to pin point what you want cleaned, re filled, taken out e.g. we had to ask the cleaner to take out the empty water bottles and have finished cocktails on the third day of their presence. But all this is invisible to the amazing atmposphere and vibe that this resort has to offer.
