Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Very Convenient Location, small room & basic
Great for a one night stop over
6.3
This hotel is ideal for a one night stopover before transferring to your island resort the next day. The rooms are extremely small with a shared living area (couches and a TV) between 4-5 rooms. The bathrooms are reminescent of a cruise ship bathroom and we had to ask for a second towel. However, it is only a 2 minute walk from the jetty ($1 per person for ferry ride from airport to Male city), and there are plenty of places to eat around the hotel. Decent view from the top with a small pool. And reasonably priced, considering what you will be paying for a stay at an island resort.

Good for overnight stay
Friendly staff, great nearby restaurants
6.3
Here is my summary. If you are flight arriving at nighttime I would recommend to stay the night in Male other than paying a full day price on one of the luxuries resorts. The hotel is decent and good for one night stay. The good part about it is the close nearby restaurants. It is a walking distance from the boat wharf. The furry from the airport to Male should cost you about a dollar each.

Overall a fine place for putting a night there, but don't plan to stay here for your entire vacation.

Super close to the jetty with decent average rooms
Literally took 2 minutes to walk from the jetty, very friendly helpful staff

i'd recommend a stay at mookai if you require an overnight stay in male en route to your nice resort and if you don't feel like splurging extra for a stopover. stay here also if you want a hotel you can drag your bags to easily after taking the ferry from the airport. sure if you have extra to splurge you could definitely pick the swankier places to stay at though. we stayed on the 5th floor and our room was an ok size. beds were okay, hot water worked fine, shower doors slightly leaky, no breakfasts ( but our seaplane was at 630 anyway), old-school 80s furniture with floral design everywhere and friendly helpful staff. i'd been emailing them a week before we arrived to check on my booking and their location and they were so helpful by sending out male's map etc...

Clean, no-frills stopover hotel near airport jetty
Ideally situated for travelers with a late flight into Male
6.7
my flight into the maldives arrived at night, so i had to wait until the morning for a speedboat transfer. mookai hotel was a good choice for a stopover--my room was small but clean, and the staff helpfully directed me to the appropriate transfer jetty.
the location is one block from the airport jetty and roughly a 15 minute walk from the presidential jetty, where many resorts in the north male atoll pick up guests.

Good hotel for in transit
Location 2 min from ferry

had to stay overnight as we arrived late and the sea planes only run during the day. quick ferry ride over and 2 min walk to hotel. friendly staff. very small room, window faced a brick wall, shower door fell off. for the time we spent there (overnight sleep) it was a good value for money compared to the other hotels.

Good location but small rooms
6.7
In general, the Mookai Hotel is in a very good location, around five minutes from the Male City Pier. The reception is very helpful, she help to call the hotel we will transfer to confirm our pick up time from the hotel. But in terms of the pricing, it is too expensive since the hotel do not have much factilites, only suitable for transit only.

Basic hotel but great for stopover
Very convenient location, safe & clean
7.3
Mookai Hotel is recommended for a short overnight stay. Customer service is well delivered overall. Before our trip, we had prompt response to our enquiries and requests via email, and transfers were eventually carried out responsibly as arranged, no issues like hidden charges at all. Our hotel-organized transfer also used the public ferries, but you get guided and help with baggage, which was useful if arriving on your own for the 1st night. I am not sure if this is the case if the resort instead had organized the overnight accommodation in Male. Hotel wise, it is a small hotel, a 10-storey block, but the rooms are clean, though small. In our room, the double bed is made with 2 combined singles, but its no big deal. For just a night's sleep, it is very sufficient.
Restaurant Tip:
If you are not having hotel breakfast, served in a property opposite Mookai's called Kam Hotel (same ownership, apparently), there are cafes nearby facing the jetty strip, a little further past the banks. You will most likely need to make your own way to the jetty to make the resort transfer, so check out ahead, have breakfast at one of these cafes while enjoying the harbour view.
