Pretty bog standard 2 star

With Myanmar having a deluge of tourists, and a lack of hotels, there just isnt much of a choice. Rates have all been jacked up 3 fold since the last time i visited. So what you get for its price isnt going to impress you. Its a converted office block so dont expect any outside views except a brick wall and, my pet peeve, the bathroom is in the room with some hanging bollards as the divider. Its really annoying and if you dont fancy smelling your partners crap, then i would suggest you pay nearly triple and take Traders hotel opposite (tip for the hotel if you are reading this - get a proper door for the bathroom please).
Having said that, the location is excellent and the staff try very hard. And the free unlimited water is great. I would stay again though my partner might have other ideas.

central location, clean and reasonable priced, free wifi.

the best thing about this hotel is the central location. you can just walk around to see some major attractions of yangon. i'd say it has "traders location" without traders price tag. check-in and check-out was quick and easy. wifi worked. the room was clean and tidy. a bit small, but adequate for us. we didn't have breakfast as we were leaving very early, but a modest breakfast box was provided. if you are staying just one or two nights in yangon (and most do just that) i'd recommend that hotel as the prices for the best hotels in yangon doubled or even tippled in the last year or two.

In front of Traders Hotel, East Hotel is easy access located in downtown of Yangon. The hotel was renovated recently to be modern and clean. I can recommend this hotel to a business person or a budget traveler, yet accomodation fee is higher compared with the same class hotels in other cities.

A good choice in its price range in Yangon.
Non-smoking, comfortable bed, quiet aircon.
6.7
Check-in was friendly and efficient. I arrived before 9 am after the early AirAsia flight from Bangkok so I was not surprised that I could not have an early check-in. I eventually checked in at midday after seeing the district.
Room 803 was clean and smelled fresh but the 'Shwedagon Pagoda View' is a rather distant one.
The hotel is non-smoking. In my experience that is a rare treat in Asia. A big plus! Additionally the air-freshener system used is effective and non-invasive. The air-conditioner worked very efficiently and also very quietly. There was no noise from it at all; excellent.
The twin beds were long enough for me (I am 6' tall), comfortable and the comforter was not excessively heavy.
The shower needed to be run for quite a long time to obtain hot water. When it finally arrived the temperature was hot but pressure was a little low. The two power points are awkwardly positioned for re-charging items or for shaving. A simple folding stand is needed for luggage. I put mine on the second bed.
I used the restaurant for two breakfasts (included) and a dinner. It was disappointing.
Overall, the small negatives are outweighed by the positives. The East Hotel is a good choice in its price range in Yangon.

Good Location and Nice Staffs
9
I always stay here whenever I visit Yangon. I love the location of the East Hotel, right in downtown. Staffs are very nice and helpful. They command good English. Anyway, the unimpressive thing is the design of the room, especially the toilet and shower room. It might be great if the bathroom is seperated.
Shopping Tip:
Just 10 mins walk to Bogyoke Market. Parkson Departmentstore is on construction, it is close to Bogyoke Market.

Great Location
Comfortable bed and excellent flat screen tv with good reception and many channels
8.3
This hotel provides an excellent value in today's Yangon with the prices escalating for poor quality. The East hotel is not perfect but delivered more than was expected.
Nightlife Tip:
Visit the 50th street pub and excellent place to find out what is going on.

Pleasant Hotel with lovely staff
7
Well located hotel in downtown area. Conveniently located to reach most major tourist spots and the round city train - the station is just up the road over the bridge. Scots market just up the road is not really worth the walk but Chinatown is not far away. Lower floor rooms may suffer from minor flooding from above and the wooden floors in the showers never really dry out and can smell quite moldy.

Great value for money.
Efficient, friendly, helpful service. Modern. Convenient location.
8.3
This boutique hotel is everything a budget traveler could ask for. Conveniently located, friendly, helpful, efficient service. Clean, contemporary decor. The absence of a shower stall door may be an inconvenience to some. The staff were knowledgable and accommodating of every request. It is very conveniently located for sight-seeing or business.
