value hotel
location, price and clean
the staff very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and limitless supply of bottled water; we also got breakfast boxes for an early flight; because it is what it is - it feels like a pleasant retrieve from the chaotic outside world; a cold...

Does the job, unless you need decent WiFi
Great location, helpful staff, unlimited water
Our stay was great. We actually stayed there in 2012 and decided to come back. However, the WiFi was rarely enough to check email, and as we had some online work to do throughout the week we ultimately had to stay elsewhere.

Nice hotel, not super clean
location, staff, modern look of the hotel
We enjoyed our stay at the East hotel. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is in a great location. However, as the bathroom is in the bedroom and the windows cannot open the room smelled of damp/mould. It seems strange to not have any way to let fresh air into the building. There also was a dead cockroach lying in the corridor for almost an entire day.

Solid location and staff, Rooms not so much
Location, Helpful staff
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The location is close to Sule Pagoda and a great location to explore downtown. Rooms were clean yet uncomfortable due to dank moldy smell. We stayed two nights, but thought about leaving and eating the cost of the stay because of the smell to the smell.

Dark room, friendly staff
location, staff
The room had incredibly poor lighting, was old, and not very clean.. Arrived late and checked out early the next day so did not request transfer to another room. Staff were friendly though and went out of their way to prepare a take-out box for my breakfast on the day of my check out (as I was checking out too early to have breakfast at the hotel)

Great location in the centre of Yangoon
The location and the convenience
Make sure to get a deluxe room with a city view. When we arrived they gave us a room upstairs near the gym on the top floor without a view. The room was too small, not clean and the sink didn't work. The room was unacceptable for the price. We requested to change to the deluxe room with city view and were then very happy. The staff in the hotel were wonderful and very helpful.

Great Clean Hotel in Yangon
staff, location, cleanliness
My stay was great at the East hotel for a few nights in Yangon. Its a great convenient location to explore the city and check some great food options. Great size and comfortable beds for the cost, as most accommodation in the city is quite expensive. Would stay again.

Good location
Location, breakfast, service
It is right at the center of the city, walking distance to Sule, the Aung Shan market. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a mid range priced hotel in Yangon city center.

A Good 3* Hotel
Location, Customer Service, Breakfast
The East Hotel is in a good location in downtown Yangon. The streets outside are a bit scruffy, but all the downtown area is similar. The location is convenient for visiting the main sights. The rooms are rather small and a bit dark but otherwise clean and functional. A fridge would have been nice. The Wi-Fi was slow (unusable at times), but this may be the country rather than the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good restaurants/bars are hard to find in the area - try the nearby Rangoon Tea House at 77, Pansodan Street and Chinatown street restaurants on 19th Street. The market is good for antiques, jewellery, fabrics and lacquer ware, prices very reasonable. A circular train journey of 3 hours can be taken from the main railway station - interesting, but not too pretty in places. Most important is to visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, an awesome experience. Finally, leave plenty of time to get out to the airport and clear security - a chaotic experience.
