Service, English speaking staff A little out of the centre of town - a taxi from the centre of town cost $3USD The building is in a traditional style with modern amenities. The bed was a little short for me (I'm 6 feet tall), but was not a real problem. The view over the lake is absolutely stunning. My room was clean and well organised. I was only there for one night, and didn't eat in the restaurant (apart from breakfast) so I can't comment much on the food. The breakfast, however, was a buffet with a good range of options.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Castle Internet cafe in town was the only one I found with access to gmail

attentive staff, impecable serivice and great location Dated rooms, a very strong stench of pesticide in the room and rather run down facilities The hotel is located just minutes away from the Schwedagon Paya, which is a must in Yangon. it is also only a 10 minutre drive away from the centre of town. While rooms have nice views of the lake and while staff attentiveness and service cannot be flawed, the hotel could do with a facelift as rooms are looking dated and tired.
Also what was most annoying for us was the really strong smell of pesticide present in the room. My clothes and bags were impregnated with the smell even days after we had left the hotel.
The pool didn't look that appealing as it was dead in the middle of what could only be described as a bit of rainforest (dinosaur included).
Might also add that me and my friend ended up with an upset stomach after having dinner at the hotel... From that point on i stayed away from the included free breakfast.
Overal the hotel was ok for a couple of nights stay, but I'd probaly look to stay in a different place if i went back.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : its only a 10 minute walk away from the Schwedagon Paya.
Try to stay clear of the pesky insistent tourists guides offering to show you around once you are actually inside the site and on your way up, beware of places that ask to keep your shoes for you for a $5US contribution, They make you believe that you are actually paying for the ticket, while in reality the ticket office is just a few meters ahead up the steps.

The vicinity (20 min. walk though) of the Shwedagon Paya. View of it from some rooms, and the upper corridor dark athmosphere and air con not working properly The staff in this hotel is very very nice, but they cannot take away the fact that the pool was dirty, the air con did not work properly, and the acces to the lake is impossible from the hotel. We were upgraded to a suite after I bitterly complained about the air con situation (which they were aware of) , and only then did we have a view from our room of the Shwedagon Paya. We staid 4 nights, and next time in Rangoon, we'll stay in the center, which is a much more interesting area.

The palace still keep their unique decoration and smell of historical place. The staff at the hotel are friendly and service minded that make you feel comfortable while you stay at the hotel. Thai food at the restaurant are also nice especially fried rice, believe me because I am Thai!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Try to walk at the park in the morning time. There is a very beautiful park next to the hotel and you can also have a cup of the coffee at Signature Restaurant beside the park.

Nice room and bathrooms, quiet, great view of the lake, good restaurant. Nice and helpful staff. Poor internet (a problem in Burma not really the hotel's fault), musty smelling rooms from the damp. We only stayed here a couple of nights, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The lake is very nice, and the staff were very polite and tried to be helpful.
If you want to pay the hotel is dollar, note they only except very clean, undamaged notes. If a note has a crinkle in it, they won't accept it.

beautiful colonial style hotel that fits very nicely into the surrounding greens no good reading lamps in the bedroom The place surprised with the romantic location (lake view one side, view of the Shwedagon Pagoda to the other side). The rooms (de lux) were spacious, nicely furnished and absolutely clean. The hotel is close enough to the center that you can be there by taxi in less than 10 minutes. Alltogether a great place to stay and good value for your money.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take a walk on the teakwood bridge across the lake next to the hotel which gives you a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and city

Power shuts downs, air conditioning does not work, terrible humid smell. Bad experience at this hotel. On our 2 nights the electric power was shut down for several minutes repeated times and the air conditioning did not cool. The hotel smells terrible due to humidity.

wonderful service, courteous staffs, good location Interior hotel decor is a bit gloomy During our stay, from check in through check out process - Staffs are wonderful and very helpful. The check in and check out process are pretty efficient. The superier room is quite spacious compare with some hotels in Yangon. However, the light for the passage to the room is a bit dim and the lobby, too. Aditionally, it will be much more convenient for guests and staff if in-house phone are placed on each floor to contact with FO and housekeeping staff (e.g. in the case of room key card is not working properly, etc. ). Breakfast is well combined with different cuisine (e.g. Myanmar food, European Breakfast and Thai food). Overall, it is really nice hotel and we enjoyed our stays at Kandawgyi Palace Hotel... Keep it up the good work !!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The hotel is adjacent to Kandawgyi Park and Lake and very convenient to go to Shwedagon Pagoda. Beside, the wonderful view of Karaweik, Kandawgyi Lake and park can be seen from the hotel's garden.

The swimming pool is by far the most perfect feature of this hotel. Its beautiful, with stunning view, right temperature. The hotel is also stunning and the right ambiance for a sortie to Myanmar. It is so worth the visit and if you have political concerns think about the local people you will be giving a job to by going! Don't punish the poor! It also has wireless connection in the lobby and fast speed internet in business centre. Breakfast was great! Its just disappointing more people are not going there to enjoy such a place! While the world boycotts Myanmar, its the people who suffer not the generals. A visit to Kandaggyi Hotel makes you realize how many jobs are provided through viable and reasonable businesses. This is an oasis in Yangon with a stunning view of the Schwedagon and the Lake. A beautiful swimming pool, good food and exceptional service!! The teak wood, combined with beautiful gardens makes it a special stay!
Travel tip : Try the restaurant/bar at the back of the hotel, overlooking the Karaweik Boat restaurant. Its reasonably priced and great views!

Level of service (not cloying), room quality, well-maintained gardens. Most staff spoke some english but please try and speak some Burmese! Evening musicians seemed dour almost robotic. Pool could do with a bit of a clean up. Possibly not central enough for some but taxis easy to obtain. However, good location for Shwe Dagon. We arrived extremely early in the morning in the hope that we would be able to check-in before the normal time. We were provided with cold drinks and waited a short time before being shown to our room. The level of service and comfort was excellent bearing in mind the harsh reality of everyday life in Yangon. We didn't eat in the hotel except for a club sandwich for lunch (this was tasty and great value for money).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Visit Shwe Dagon during the day and use a guide. Cheap enough. Entrance ticket can now be purchased using kyats. Keep ticket and sticker and return during the evening - no extra charge. The ambience during this period is magical.

The spa like effect of the rooms, view of the lake, the coffee.The candid info about telephone connections being bad in Myanmar This is a charming hotel with a relaxing view of the lake. ( I forget the name.) Location is quite conveniet to the center of town . Try the local coffee. its the best I have had so for. staff are very friendly. makes you wonder how they can still smile in such a repressed country. theirs is a sincere desire to please and make a guest feel comfortable. I felt this the most in this hotel.
Restaurant Tip : Try the local coffee. Its apparently steamed for several hours, and has a very nice aroma.

Very good service. Great location away from the hustle and bustle -and pollution- of Yangon downtown. Impressive and large wooden complex in a garden by a beautiful lake. Within walking distance of the Swedagon temple. It's a large complex with way too many rooms. Also the pool could be a bit nicer. I highly recommend the Kandawgyi Palace Hotel mainly for its great location, slightly away from downtown Yangon. It also has a very friendly and helpful staff. The complex is an adaptation of the old British Boating Club and retains some of those original characteristics. Although it is a bit of a mega complex, the lobby and dining spaces are small enough not to feel like you are in a large hotel. The atmosphere is therefore cozy despite the size. There are a few tables outside where one can have breakfast next to a beautiful lush garden. Rooms either face a beautiful lake or the gleaming Swedagon.
Restaurant Tip : Next door is Sandy's which serves excellent Myanmar cuisine. And a 5 minute walk away towards the Swedagon temple is "Signature" with its excellent local and international food.

Hospitality and Location. For foreign people, sometimes feel lonely or annoy if they are traveling alone.
Although, during I stayed at Kandawgyi Palace Hotel, I really feel relaxing and like at home. Sometimes feel the oldness of equipments, but not so much serious. To feel and taste, the Bar along with the Lakeside. That's really fascinating scenery especially at nights. In addition, if you compare other Hotels located on the city, you must feel the difference especially on cost-performance.

Great place very quiet near to the lake.
Very kind people.
Nice architecture.
My room had not the air con working and it was very hot ( last level and pagoda view) despite we are in January. I will recommend this hotel for the lake and the very typical architecture , sometime rooms are a little too old, but you should choice the rooms with lake view quieter.
The swimming pool is nice but very busy.
