Like to stay in the hotel bcos good location within walking distance to Scott Market selling all kinds of Jades stones & local arts. China town & Sule Pagoda is within walking distance. Swedagon Pagoda is a must to visit. Yangon is a safe city with many very polite people all over the city. Will come back & stay at May Shan Hotel when back to Yangon.

The May Shan hotel is considerably overpriced. However, I think a lot of hotels in Yangon are increasingly expensive at the minute. Good things were the location, cleanliness, quietness of the room and the staff were quite helpful. I would stay here again if I had to as we were out and about most of the time.

We spent most of the time out sightseeing and enjoyed our time in Yangon. I think the hotel was overpriced but it was at least clean and quiet and the staff were nice. I would stay here again but don't expect luxury or much value for money.

Nice Stay with Friendly Local Family Guesthouse

At first I think the hotel is a bit overpriced as the room is too small and I can find bigger room with the same price at other hotel. But after I have a chance talking to the owners who are a local Chinese-origin Myanmar family, I felt good that I did help some local business. Actually, though the room is quite small and it seems like all furniture is cramped in the room, the bed is very comfortable, air-conditioning worked well and there is cable tv, hot shower etc. The hotel is also situated on the right location, nearby / almost next to Sule Paya. From there you can walk only 5min to a Top view bar at Sakura Tower to see Yangon by night. 10-15 minute walk to Ruby minimart and St. Mary Cathedral. The opposite shops include JJ donuts and Parisian Coffee Shop. At night, there are lines of street food stalls in front of & opposite the hotel.

Nice hotel situated next to Sule Paya, centrally located with very helpful, friendly staff. Breakfast was adequate (toast,egg,banana,coffee/tea) and served quickly. We felt very comfortable and the roof top gives you a good view over the street.
