This place oozes colonial history and the rooms are impeccable with polished teak floors and crispy cotton sheets. It is just a short 10 minute walk to Schwedagon Pagoda. Other attractions are all a short taxi ride down the street. Rooms by the pool can be quieter than those facing the road which does have some traffic. There is a lovely reading room where one can enjoy a drink or simply read the papers. This boutique hotel is one of the top places to stay in Yangon. One of the details that leaves a lasting impression on a guest is the collection of antiques and art that is spread around the hotel.
Children and extra beds:Guests over 14 years old are considered as adults. Extra beds are dependent on the room you choose, please check the individual room policy for more details.

Lovely, but overpriced and getting tired
Historic, good location, nice surrounds

I've stayed at this hotel for years, and in line with other Yangon hotels, it's now way overpriced because of the room shortage. Overall, the hotel is getting shabby and tired, nowhere near as nice as it was in recent years. The food has also gone downhill as has the breakfast. It seems as the crowds have now arrived, the standards have dropped. The pool is nice and it's overall still a nice place to stay .

Friendly staff lovely rooms
Lovely staff, clean rooms nice pool area

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Savoy, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area was lovely. No problem getting a taxi from the hotel into town. The breakfast was good. The only problem we had was crossing the road outside hotel, traffic stops for no one.

Myanmar in general was not great value for money on hotels.
The Savoy let us down in two ways -
Firstly, they contested the voucher which had been mistakenly booked for single occupancy. Luckly the great folks at Agoda sorted it out, but the original way the savoy handled the situation was not right. I don't think orange squash (or cordial or orange flavoured drink) is a suitable breakfast "juice" for this level hotel - if there aren't oranges in seasons, replace with mango or something easily available locally.
Money change was also a mess - they quoted one rate, then lowered it a bit, etc...
English level was a bit poor too - came across in a number of situations that just made it a bit difficult/annoying.
