Big and clean room in luxury hotel downtown Yangon

My family and I (6 people) stayed at Sedona Hotel and had a good time. This 5 star hotel (compare to other places in Yangon in 2013) is really nice, clean, good service, and acceptable price. Swimming pool is rather old stle but nicely large. Food is fine in good location downtown.

Hotel is located in the city center where there is lake view. The room is quite big and the bed is very comfortable. From our room, we can see the big and beautiful pool. There are many restaurants in the hotel. The breakfast is very good. The hotel is suitablel for both couple with kids or for business meeting.

the hotel was a bit far away from main attractions but taxis were really cheap. on average 2 dollars so it was not a big deal. the plus side is that it was quite at night.
i was clean and the staff was super friendly and ready to help. no big luxury but perfect for a one night stay.

Great Hotel With Wonderful Staff
Excellent service, clean roooms and efficient check-in and check-out procedures. Good breakfast spread that accommodates vegetarioans too.

it is extremely difficult to fault the excellent service at this hote. the roooms were clean and room service excellent. all staff from concierge/bellboy to reception and service personnel were courteous, gracious and extremely helpful. although the hotel was situated away from town, we had no problems in getting transport to and fro. i will definitely be staying at this hotel on my next trip.
Travel tip:
make sure you have adequate supply of usd cash handy, preferably unfolded as locals are reluctabt to except soiled and creased ones. there are no roaming facilities for external service providers so you have to resort to idd calls. and yes, creditt cards are not accepted in myanmar.

Lovely hotel but rather stingy in service items

The hotel is located very near the new Yangon airport , just a 15 min ride.
Stay on the first nite was nice with provision of bedroom slippers and bathrobes.
We had two inter-connecting rooms of which one has no key because the previous guests had lost two keys that belonged to one of the rooms.So we did not mind using one key for entrance to both rooms as they were inter-connected.
However, the receptionist was so nice as to allowing us to view the room first before taking up the rooms despite having only one key to the two rooms.
Then we extended our stay to an extra nite i.e. when the problems started.
We changed rooms from the 5th floor to the 3rd floor upon extending a nite. There were no bedroom slippers and bathrobes.
When we requested for them , we were told that we will be charged 2 USD each!
Atrocious. Isn't all these complimentary from the hotel??
After such a lovely experience on the first nite , then we were shocked on the extended nite that every paraphernalia for bathrooms are chargeable! Thus we refused to use them after that!
Restaurant Tip:
There is a nice lake just opposite the hotel where we can view Aung San Su kyii house !
First nite , we were given rooms with a nice view of the lake. Extended nite we were given rooms with the swimming pool view. On the whole the stay was nice.
The hotel had a good spread of breakfast selections in two various restaurants. The chinsese restaurant called DUFU was good and reasonable. We enjoyed the food by the hired Hong Kong chef which was superb.
You must go early for dinner say 6pm if you want the food by the HK chef , otherewise when assistant chefs take over the cooking later in the nite dining, you will find the taste of the food changed drastically for the worse!
