Convenient location, great buffet breakfast, friendly staff, prompt attention to any matters
sheets are a little bit old but can be replaced
I had a very pleasant stay at Summit. Friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect away from noisy downtown yet not far. View to Shwe Dagon Pagoda from my room is magnificent especially at night. International buffet breakfast is delicious especially Indian hot dishes. Convenient money exchange, taxis right outside and great restaurants at a walking distance. Loved the gift shops in house. Will definitely stay again in future.

If you manage to arrange a room with a view onto the Shwedagon pagoda the Summit Parkview is a decent choice. It's close enough to walk to the Shwedagon but the city centre is all but too far except for the most adventurous hikers (we did once).
And there is a decent money changer downstairs in a back room of one of the ravel agencies (the agency itself you can forget! - useless)
The rooms are somewhat worn and the breakfast nothing special (especially if you are vegetarian); location (see above).
The proximity to the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Park make this a good choice if you prefer peace and quiet and only have a day or so in Yangoon. If you prefer to experience the city in its true form though, I'd recommend a location in the centre with the markets, back streets and hustle and bustle of food hawkers and tea stalls. For families traveling with children, this is a good option with the pool, relative cleanliness, included breakfast, etc.

Ideally located with good view at the Shwedagon Pagoda. Close to the centre of the city
There is only one coffee house and since there are clinics on the second floor there is insufficient security measures
Reception Staff are not friendly to Asians and they only take note of Europeans. To me it is a shame, as Burma had left British colony many years ago. Why this colonial attitude? They also look very proud and give cold shoulders when we approach.

Restaurant is very good and good value, try the pesto soup - good breakfast something for everybody.
The cab fares are so cheap that the location is no problem and the view is great of the Pagoda the staff is very pleasant and helpful, will be going back again!
Restaurant Tip : The Singapore Res next door is very good

Close to Shewdagon Pagoda and terrific bar with music most nights. Good professional standard Gym (equipment a little old but robust)
Smoking (as usual in Mayanmar unfortunately).
This was my "kicking off" point for my Myanmar trip. It was a good standard (not lavish but acceptable and comforatble) hotel. Staff were brilliant, and the pool area was nice. The breakfast buffet was sensational ( try the indian style breakie if you dare...) and the hotel internet service in the business centre was good ( about four machines which work best in the mornings at about $1.50 per half hour). What I really liked about this hotel was the great pool area - small but very functional and pleasant - and the professional quality gym, with full locker service, professional trainers and good ( old but functional) equipment. Many locals use this as their local Gym. Particular highlight for me was the bar with live music and a reasonable quality Australian Chardonay for about USD20.00 a bottle.
Hotel is about five minutes by taxi to City or 2000 Kyats ( $2.00). I walked into town my first day to get my bearings ( which was quite easy and interesting, but take water and a hat) which took my about 45 minutes at steady pace.
Again the dreaded self medicating nicotine addicts are everywhere unfortunately which comes with the dreaded deodorises the hotel uses to try to hide their trail. Shame but I'm sure that will change in time...even in Myanmar.
Nightlife Tip : Great Hotel Bar with live music and singers ( as well as professional dancers) most nights.

Friendly hotel staff

I enjoyed my stayed at summit parkview hotel. It was pleasant and peaceful. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The only inconvenience for me was the internet connection. It was very very slow and also I could not connect to yahoo.mail at the business centre. Otherwise, it was a oaky to stay at summit. I would be happy to stay there again. Thank you.
Restaurant Tip : Singapore Kitchen was good.

Facing Pagoda. Tidy, neat. Staff have good manner, politeness. Breakfast is acceptable. Room rate reasonable but have to book thru travel agent.
No internet at room. Irregular opening n closing time on roof top.
I stayed in this hotel during my visit to Yangon n other cities nearby. Nice hotel situated near the famous pagoda. Rooms are moderately decorated with tidy bed. Worth going up to the roof to have a good view at the pagoda in near sight. However, time of roof opening is not notified, which disappoints some of the customers who wish to go up at nite.

Overall facade is soothing compared to surrounding. Gives comfortable feeling. Lobby, rooms etc are within international expectation.
May need to highlight at the lobby availability of shops in hotel. Discover these shops half hour before I was due to leave.
Hotel situated within walking distance to Shweddagon Pagoda and various foreign embassies. Not much crowd in vicinity as neighbouring hotel Yangon International Hotel is under renovation. Found lane behind hotel that is pleasant and where locals congregate. There was a coffee shop situated under the shade of some tall trees. Opposite hotel is a planetarium and it is also within walking distance to the National Museum.

wonderfull breakfast buffet
close to the SChenedagon Pagoda
not many restaurants around
Summit parkview hotel offers good rooms and good service, however the room are a little bit unpersonnal, but for the price it is quite ok.
The best is the buffet breakfast, open from 6am till 10.30am, lots of choice and nice breads.
The pool is also quite nice. The hotel is close to the Schenedagon Pagoda, I even had a view of it from my room.It is also close to the thailand Embassy if you need to make a visa for Thailand. The only drawback is that there is not many restaurants around the hotel( omly a Black Canyon Cafe ( the chain restaurant from Thailand)and a Singapore's kitchen ( which i did not try).
Internet cost $3.00us per hour but only 300kiats at an internet cafe in front of the BIg Market downtown.
The moneychanger at the hotel is quite convenient.

This hotel is a great value for the money. There is a fitness center, but walking around the park in the morning is much more enjoyable. The pool is nice. The breakfast is more east than west, but you can get eggs. The dinner buffet is great. Traditional music in the lobby adds a nice atmosphere.

Nice location, my room had a view over a park across the road.
Cash only, but that's a general problem in Myanmar. Breakfast buffet a little dull.
I stayed at the Summit Parkview Hotel over an extended weekend in November 2009 and I enjoyed it.
The breakfast buffet was a little dull, and the night club was almost empty when I visited it, but apart from that, it was a nice hotel. The hotel also has it's own money exchange bureau that gave me a reasonable rate for my US dollars. Also there is an internet cafe in the lobby.
Nightlife Tip : The 50th Street Bar and Grill (on 50th Str., off Merchant Str.) had just reopened after reconstructions, nice place with a pool table and several screens showing international sport.

very friendly staff at all levels most speaking very nice English
close to everything
good value for money
excellent buffet breakfast
not that I can think of and by saying this what I mean is that if you want to explore the world you must be prepared that the world is not a perfect place and take things as they are and if not do not leave your confi zone and stay home
I stayed there upon my arrival in Yangon and then we spend 5 nights before leaving for home.Which means we had a very pleasent stay otherwise we would not have stayed 2nd time.I am planing to return there next year. All staff very helpful even when very busy and front office and restaurant staff speaks good english.
Food at reasonable prices;b-fast included in room rate but dinner very good and reasonably priced.
Breakfast is buffet style and with dishes from all around the world to accomodate tourists from many different countries. Restaurant manager[dinner time] highly profesional and attent .Housekeeping no complaints all nice and clean and tidy.
pleanty of hot water and no power shortages as have their own generators.Good swimingpool to escape the heat.
Bar is the only place we did not visited
Travel tip : Like I said above:
if you are not prepared to find things different from back home-do yourself a favour-stay home'
From my 20 years experiance in hotels I can tell you one thing:what you are prepared to spend on a room very often dosnt reflect the pleasure you will get from that room rate and to explain this I will give you an example: we spent 5 night at a place on Nagali Beach -we had no hot water and only a fan at night and a mosquito net and we paid a budget rate and guess what-WE LOVED IT - EVERY MOMENT OF THE STAY and why?- Myanmar people are the best -we made many friends in 3 weeks and are going back . The point is embrace their kindness and enjoy yourself and if things are differet well I think thats why you wanted to travel.
{just to add; next to us was a 5 star resort which we considered as it had all the "luxuries" we did not have but we felt so welcomed at the budget place so we deceide against changing hotels and it was not about the money but the quality of hospitality}

Breakfast, clean, helpful. Great, fast money changer
not able to get a room overlooking the Swedagon Paya even though booked in advance.
The Hotel was good. The breakfast was really nice-so much choice with great pastries and omelet options. When we had to leave for the airport early they boxed up a breakfast for us which was great. The staff were not the most friendly but they were very helpful-phoned a few places to see if they were open etc. We were dissapointed when our room overlooked the pool and not the Paya because we had booked in advance but it didnt matter really! I would stay there again or recommend it to others.
Restaurant Tip : L'Opera Italian restaurant-really nice food and a great pizza, pasta, free flow wine deal on Fri and Sat night.

Without a doubt the best feature of the hotel was the spa. They massage and facial I received equaled my best anywhere in the world. The room was spacious and clean, and the plumbing worked (a rare thing in Myanmar from my experience) The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The dining area had very limited hours they were open, and then only offered buffet style. The menu had mostly things I could not eat, but what I did eat, was adequate.
The atmosphere within the hotel and around the grounds was very pleasant, with a seasoned Asian flare. Although the hotel appears to be many years old, it seems to be well maintained. The staff is very cordial, speaks very strong English, and attended to whatever requests I made. The dining hall is the least favorite, mostly due to the limited hours it was open. We were not in the hotel during most of their open times. The spa was my favorite feature, as the girls who do manicures, facials and foot massage were very well trained, and pleasant. I would recommend this hotel when going through Yangon.

Good hotel for comfortable stay, and value for money.
Location is little far from the main city hub.
The ideal hotel to visit Yangon for peaceful location, and on request can get the room facing the famous Pagoda. Most of the facilities available including Spa, Swimming pool, good gym, and a lovely bar. The staff is very polite and courtesous. The morning buffet breakfast is full of variety, from continental to India, of good taste. Exellent value for money.
