Superior was a better deal

On the previous stay had the Traders Club, but this time I stayed in the regular room which was the same as the Club's deal. The price on this deal was better and enjoy the same standards which was a fair deal for Yangon. Again, the food here is great, breakfast was a star, reception performance was exceptional. For Yangon, I would recommend here, just do wish the rates was as it was before 2 years ago.

We had two sets I'd days stay at Traders Hotel in Yangon, as we were visiting other cities in Myanmar,
We were to come back for an overnight stay before going home. I forgot my sugar free chocolates in the
Fridge in our room and decided to just gorged about it. Upon checking in on our return route, I just casually asked if they found the chocolates. To my surprise, they had it ready for me! That was to me an unusual gesture that I think only a few hotels can give. That was something I never expected! it was a small thing but I was true pleased!

Very good location, but no character.

as others have noted, the location of this hotel is quite good. it has the benefit of being one of the few chain hotels (shangri-la) in yangon. however, staff is not up to typical shangri-la (a luxury brand hotel) standards and is unable to provide useful customer service outside of standard replies to easy questions. there was an issue with my booking and, while agoda was great at fixing the issue, the hotel was awful. this ruined a day of the trip because the hotel made me chase down items.
we left after 2 nights because we did not want to stay here anymore.
in addition to the complete lack of customer service, the hotel is as sterile as they come. hotels are a large expense on a vacation, and they should provide someone with good memories. nothing about this hotel is memorable (at least in a good way).
there are numerous other hotels within a block, some rather nice (central hotel) and some that are clean and provide a decent, safe room with great staff (east hotel).
i will be staying elsewhere when i return to myanmar (which i will, as it's a great place).

Really enjoyed my stay here mainly because of the location, nice rooms and a strong wifi signal. However, the concierge staff here did not understand english very well and did not give us clear directions and/or suggestions. When we asked for non-touristy places to eat or things to do, for some reason, they could not answer it. We wanted to take the local circle line train and all they said was "we do not recommend this for you" and even when we insisted, they did not know the train times. I would suggest doing all the research of where to go around Yangon yourself and not relying on their concierge.

Recommend booking a room with breakfast included - very large spread that I enjoyed. Rooms are large, if a bit dated. the hotel was going through a renovation at the time I stayed (Dec. 12) but enjoyed. Prices were slightly higher than I expected (near US pricing on food/drink even though it is Myanmar)

The Traders Club rooms added value was not worth the money, in Yangon all hotels has raised the prices in 2012, but all are over priced compare to other great cities in South East Asia, but as a room needed, Traders would be a recommended one for it's price and standards. The Traders Club was not worth the money, a regular room with out the club was more reasonable. The food here is great, the Reception was outstanding including it's manager Aung, the concierge can be better. I had 2 outlets, the Cafe had excellent breakfast as well as a la carte, the Korean was great and worth it's price. The Club's food was poor as well as the wine.
Overall stay was great.

whilst yangon is behind in decades in comparison to many major cities in asia, the moment you step into the traders, all the differences disappear. it kind of brings you back to what everything should be..
Restaurant Tip:
Get across the road to the Hitachi Building to the Sakura restaurant on the top most floor for a nice and very affordable dinner with a good night view of the Sulay Pagoda..

Convenient location but pretty dusty surroundings

Check in counter was smooth, but room key cards issued were not working properly & had to re-program & changed for 3 times. That was not what we should expect from a 4 stars hotel.
The location is supposed to be centralized, convenient in town, but the traffic is very heavy, causing bad jam along the way to Shwedagon Pagoda. Fortunately the roads are quite clean except polluted and dusty due to heavy traffic. It's quite chaotic without proper traffic lights too, so just have to be extra careful when crossing the road or going to nearby attractions like the market or Sule pagoda.
Breakfast buffet varieties were good, plenty of choices. So you will not go hungry, simply enjoy the quality of food and also the good service provided by the helpful & courteous staff.
Room is well designed with modern facilities & strong water pressure. Complimentary Wifi is available in the room, this is very helpful especially when you are on business trip or even for those on holidays.
