Rooms, Staff, Location, and Price… best for family
Rooms, Location and Price
Overall Shangri-La was a just what we needed for a family with younger children (under 10yrs old). On arriving, I paid a bit extra to get upgraded to the premier suite which had a seperate lounge area in the room. Also the main bedroom had a couch which we used as a bed for one of the kids and then got an extra bed for the other kid and the room was big enough to fit all of us comfortably. The hotel is centrally located with some sites being walking distance. The travel agent (HIS) helped us book all internal flights as well before we got there. The gym was new and had all the equipment you need. Two restaurants and a nice bar. As a premier room guest there was also use of the lounge on the top floor that had free afternoon tea and buffet snacks (which ended up being dinner for the kids on one night). So overall for the price this is a hotel worth staying at and will be the one of choice next time we stay in Yangon.

Best Hotel in the Area
Breakfast, Gym, WiFi
My wife and I stayed here for a few nights and it is by far the best place we've ever stayed in Yangon. People travel here from quite far to use the WiFi because it's the fastest and most reliable. We also thought the breakfast buffet was incredible -- looked forward to it every morning!

Fine hotel in a great location
location, wifi, dining
We had a great 3 night stay here. The concierge staff temporarily lost our luggage for about 6 hours, but they ultimately tracked it down where it had been delivered to the wrong room. No harm done, a personal apology from the duty manager was more then sufficient, and for the remainder of our stay it seemed every staff seemed to know our names and were very helpful. The breakfast and buffet dinner here is excellent, and not too pricey. The location is very central, near the market and Sule Pagoda. You CAN walk to the Shwedegon Pagoda in under an hour, if it's not too hot, although it's not all that scenic. Cheap taxis are always available at the hotel.
