Refurbished Rooms at Great Location

We stayed here for 1 night. Booked 2 delux rooms with breakfast for 4 of us. As we arrived early at 10:30 a.m., the rooms we requested for (high floor facing Shwedagon Pagoda) were not available as they were still being occupied. So we opted for one room on lower floor just to store luggage, put valuables in safe and freshen up before we headed off on our private city tour. The requested room was waiting for us upon our return from our day tour at 8 p.m. The rooms were refurbished - new and clean. The pagoda facing room is better if you can get one. No complains whatsoever.
Receptionists were helpful. The staff at the Trader's Cafe were friendly and helpful. Food was good at the Cafe with a good selection, reasonably priced by western standards but appears expensive in Yangon considering it has only just opened up to tourists.
The hotel has a car pick up service from airport at US$35 but we decided to just hail a cab outside the airport (Parami Taxi) at US$10 to the hotel. I am sure the car provided by the hotel is more luxurious and plushed but for that 30-40 min journey it was okay just using the local taxis. There were mosquitoes in the local taxis though - we killed 2 in that short journey.
The hotel is waking distance to Scott's market and Sule Pagoda and a short car ride to the Yangon River, City Hall, high court etc. Very convenient. Did not have a chance to use the swimming pool though.

Great hotel in very good location

Traders is an oasis of calm in Yangon. It carries the full Shangri La DNA and is surprisingly good for a second brand.
We stayed in a recently refurbished room which was to a high standard. The health club hadn't been finished during our stay however once it and the new Horizon Club are complete, this will be a fine hotel indeed.
Highly recommended.

The market is close by.

Nice posh hotel with an excellent location right next to the market. Hotel is nice and the bar was great too. Rooms were comfortable and overall very good quality hotel.
Only area for improvement I can think of is when you ask them to get taxis. No attempt to advise on recommended fare - the guy at the door seems to be in concert with the taxi drivers in asking for higher fares. Stayed in another Yangon hotel where experience was very different.

I stayed two nights in Traders Hotel, Yangon and I enjoyed my time there. As a solo traveler, I was given a room with two twin beds, which didn't make much sense to me, but since I got in so late I wasn't up to argue. The morning breakfast offers a wide selection of Asian dishes with fresh fruits and juices as well. There is your typical breads, cheeses, and pastries as well. The location is superb, within walking distance of Sule Pagoda, Bogyoke Market, the central train station, and not too far from the river. The pool and the wait service were fantastic, as was the room service and dining options. The locker rooms could use a renovation, but when I stayed there they were doing some upgrades so I imagine they'll get to it. All in all, I'd stay there again for a 4-star quality hotel.

We stayed in Myanmar over the Chinese New Year holiday. Our initial intention was to stay at the East Hotel in the same vicinity (see a separate review on that one) but they were fully booked for our first night in Yangon, so I booked a single night in the Traders. Staff were friendly upon arrival with good English spoken. At check-in, the reception staff helped arrange for a driver/guide to show us to some of the local sights - Shwedagon Pagoda, Reclining Buddha, Kandawgyi Lake. The room itself was of a high standard, as you would associate with the Traders. There was some renovation going on (I believe it was the gym) and we could hear some drilling/banging in the afternoon but this was kept outside of any unsociable hours.

The hotel is far most the best in Yangon. but the GYM is currently undergoing renovation so is very small place and the equipment is very old. compared to Park Royal, Yangon.
the rooms is very comfortable compared to Park Royal though. Buffett breakfast is best. Chinese restaurant is best. worth staying.
Restaurant Tip:
if you want some nice Thai-Myanmar food, from Traders hotel, turn to your right, at the pedestrian bridge turn right again at the main road. walk two blocks away ( you will see a mosque on your left) then turn right again ( a lot of dentist clinics on the right) and walk till the end the restaurants is on your left.
