Located in a side street off Durbar Square. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. It was quite cold during my stay but I was placed in a warm, sunny room in the front. Hot water is available in the mornings and evenings. All the sites are within easy walking distance. The food menu included all standard fare. The King Curd was quite good.

Incredible Stay at Vajra Guest House
Right in the centre of Bhaktapor, Incredible Views

Our stay, ferom start to finish in the Vajra Guest House was an abslute pleasure.
The staff were fabulous, the food was delicious and the accommodation was of an excellent standard.
Our room was lovely, on teh top floor with a view over Durbar Square and Bhaktapor. We found that we were not disturbed by the street noises and we enjoyed the late afternoon sun on the roof terrace or shining through the windows in our bedroom.
The breakfasts and meals were all delicious and prepared quite quickly (by Nepali standards).
We had hot showers here and even enjoyed some TV when the blackouts had finished.
They helped us with our toddler, playing with him and keeeping an eye on him when he darted off and they also helped in booking our flights and organised a taxi to take us to a beautiful temple out of town.
We could not have had a nicer stay.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Get a top floor room at the front of the hotel for breathtaking views.
Take a shower about 1 hour after the electric comes on. the water is piping.

The best in Bhaktapur

While we were initially concerned that our taxi driver did not know where the hotel was located, it became clear that this is because the hotel is very and not well-known yet.
The lack of awareness will change as this hotel is really very nice and a welcome change after the intensity, noise, and pollution of Kathmandu.
The manager and staff were incredibly nice and helpful.
There's a lovely rooftop overlooking the main square, a beautiful garden restaurant, and an indoor one for cold nights. (The staff even move the heater close to your table if you are cold...yes they are really very nice.)
Even if you are completely over dhal bhat, take the opportunity to order it here (and request it spicy if that's your preference)...it was the best I had in the month I spent in Nepal, and I had it three nights running.
My room was spacious, had a lovely view, and a clean new bathroom. Even during power outages they have backup solar powered lights, so you can still read, but you can't watch TV or recharge any appliances. There is a schedule detailing when the outages will occur on each day, so make sure you consult it.
Travel tip:
Print out a copy of the map showing the hotel location before you leave home so you can show your taxi driver. Because the main square is closed to motor traffic, cars need to do a detour to get to it.
