Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

A home away from home experience
Hospitable, helpful hotel staff and owner
9
AGH pretty much lives up to its name with all staff (and even owner!) always around to make sure special needs & requests are met. As a solo woman traveler, safety is always my priority & I definitely felt secure in AGH even when Thamel gets a bit wild during weekends. I eventually opted to have most of my meals & snacks at AGH because the food was tasty & of good-value-for- money (& the very kind kitchen/restaurant staff were also a major draw). And I also opted to upgrade and extend my stay at AGH because I did feel at home & found the location to be convenient for my forays around Thamel and the Kathmandu Valley.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you ordered airport pickup, make sure you have the AGH hotel tel no. on you when you arrive. When I came out the AGH driver was nowhere to be seen and I had to take a cab (couldn't close the cab windows so cold air and the infamous Kathmandu dust/smog got in). And when you check in, make sure all plug points & AC/heater are working in your room. My first room's plug points & AC/heater were all problematic hence I decided to change to a better room.

the hotel is clean, it's across a supermarket and bakery that sells
nice cinamon rolls and french bread. lots of shopping beside it and 15 minutes walk to dubar square.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
go to swayyambath temple where the monkeys are. it sits on a hill and there is nice view of the city from there with lots of restaurants and shops.

Location
Location is fantastic for shopping and food
8.3
The first thing we noticed when we stepped into the lobby is the pleasant lemongrass scent. You can help yourself to the complimentary fruits in the lobby. Also the location is fantastic for shopping as there are hundreds of shops selling cashmere products and everything else that a tourist would want to buy. It is also easy to hail a taxi but u need to negotiate the price first to avoid getting fleeced

Location in the heart of Thamel

the best thing about the hotel is the location. it is in thamel which is the main shopping and restaurant area for tourists. we had a good pasta meal at la dolce vita restaurant which is just opposite the hotel. we also shopped for cashmere shawls and sweaters which are high quality and cheap.
