I would highly recommend this apartment hotel. It has an excellent location for enjoying Thamel. The staff is exceptional and the security is excellent. The rooms are large and well equiped. It is clean and food at the next door restaurant is exceptional.

Good location in the centre of Thamel, rooms are large and spacious if a little dated. The guys at reception were very helpful and assisted in anyway possible, breakfast at the ground floor roadside cafe was nice when it finally arrived.

One of the best restaurants in Thamel located on the ground floor with room service. Very helpful staff. Cooking facilities, complimentary tea/coffee & water. A sanctuary from the street below.

We checked in very late, around 00:30. Even though the gate is closed but there were still staff able to help us. The security guard and staff even assist us to carry the bags to upstairs( tips appreciated)! Without 10mins, we have our room and with croissant and fruits as breakfast next morning

The apartment was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, there was a nice separate seating area and a small kitchen. We never used the kitchen to cook because the price of food and many restaurants nearby were nice and inexpensive. The only drawback for me was the bathroom. It is a typical style that I've seen at a lot of backpacking places in India. The shower is part of the restroom and the water drains on the same floor where the toilet and sink are situated. This really isn't that big of a deal but I prefer dry floors in the bathroom. This is definitely in a popular area of Thamel good for shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. If you are looking for something a little quieter then this wouldn't be a good choice.

Is a good place to stay in Thamel, for relax or just to sleep. I enjoyed the balcony over the street and view.
Good food can be delivered form the Roadhouse Cafe.

It was quite late when we arrive, it's not hard to find but there are so many guest house around so it's always confused for the drivers, even they are local, so go ahead and tell the drivers it's near by "kathmandu guest house", it's one of the biggest hostel in Thamel. If your driver dont know, you better find another taxi.
Speaking of room, we booked the biggest one with fair deal, has a balcony and a living area. It was a bit noisy during the night bcoz it's seems to be a club right next to this apartment. You can hear the bass clearly. But it didn't last for too late, around 1am, it was finished (very early for night club).
The shower, don't forget to shower during day time coz at night u may need to have cold shower which probably will get you crazy during winter....
Kathmandu in many ways is still not a very developed city, but that's why it's so charming. You can pay a lot of money to live in a modern and comfortable 4/5 stars hotel like shangri-la, but it's still not a bad choice to live in here...it's better than a lot of hostel here.
Restaurant Tip:
a lot of great restaurants to choose, there's one italian restaurant near by called "LA DOLCE VITA" at the cross road, it's famously classic that the ex-prince always visit there during his life time. If you are tired of local food, this is a good choice, plus the coffee and the seats are nice!

We stayed four nights at the Arcadia in January 2012 and absolutely loved our room!
We were initially appointed a room facing the main street (possibly Room 4) but had requested to look at other rooms and eventually decided to settle in Room 1. The room was spacious and clean, the bed and covers were comfy, and the décor was modern.
Our room was made up everyday - we were given fresh towels and the house-keeping staff did a good job cleaning the kitchen after we had cooked.
Although the hotel did not provide breakfast, the kitchen in the apartment was sufficiently-equipped - it had a stove, pots and pans for making light breakfasts. Roadhouse Cafe located on the ground level of the hotel was our perfect solution to breakfast and a good meal after a long day.
The only things we struggled with were the shower and heating system. We had a low pressure shower which although had hot water, made showering in the winter pretty cold. The heating system which doubled as an air-conditioner for the summer, was a little further from the bed as we would have liked so it got pretty cold sometimes.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Arcadia and would definitely return the next time we're in Kathmandu.
Travel tip:
Blackouts are extremely common throughout Nepal.
