Our stay at Blue Horizon was quite pleasant. The staff was wonderful and arranged a driver for us to see everest from a small mountain village an hours drive away. They also scheduled our taxi back to the airport. Only complaints were that the internet was quite patchy and not very fast and the food was decent. However, the location made up for this fact and there were great food choices very near. The location was very close to the markets and right next to the garden of dreams.

Satisfactory stay, was close to Thamel Chowk, was fairly quiet. Smelt strongly of cigarettes. Staff seemed more interested in selling you packages and getting money off you than ensuring you enjoyed yourself. When they realise you've organised things already they lose interest. Average at best.

The hotel was very much central, but it could have been a lovely stay , if they did not at the time of check say , they did not have a delux room and that they were going to shift me the on the second day to a triple room and ask me to vacate the ground level room which i had not asked in the first place. .my special request was on a higher level and with airport transfers.. the hotel did not inform me of the transfer payment on the return journey and also charged me double, explaining one way be free... i paid 600 nepalese rupee for my one way transfer to the airport.
i was disturbed in the nights with people talking in the late ours and the cigaret smell was not very appealing to as they were smoking close to my ac split unit duct. i requested for a change and they did not oblige. my tours were also misquoted differently by the reception Mr Sujit, he asked for 6500 rupees , where as the tours manager quoted me 3500, the day before. Once i shared the info with Mr sujit, he obliged to 3500 rupees plus reduced on the places of interest too.
I was extremely pleased with Mr Ram , the tours manager , who was on a constant service smile.. he was honest and thoughtful on every recommendation and question i asked.
if it werent for him , my journey would have been a sure minus .I Travelled to kathmandu for only 2 nights and the hotel staff did seem to acknowledge that. i hope this feedback improves the serivce of the hotel and the people working there are more thoughtful towards Asians. regardless to us tipping the staff at departure.
not to forget , the telephone number on the booking form does not go operational till 11am nepal time and also is not the number for the blue horizon hotel . my flight was delayed and therefore i had to call numerous times from the airport to connect to the number , only to be told another number to call. i waited 1hour at the airport as the 2nd person never arrived and therefore reached late only to face more complications. tha

Waste of money
Close to Thamel but still reasonable quiet

- No pick-up although confirmed day before. They only came after a phone call.
- No hot water
- We didn't get the room we paid for. They just put us in a standard room. After complaining we got a sunnier room at the top level but still not the deluxe one with king size bed + single bed. Of course they promised that the day before.
- Unfriendly staff (as if you should be happy staying there with them...).
- Upon arriving being hassled by 'tour guide' to sell you trekking. He didn't look at you anymore after telling him you do not want his services.
So, if you want to pay way too much for none service this is a good place to be! Many many better and cheaper options in Kathmandu!
Travel tip:
Do not waste your money here!

i thought i would get a decent room since i booked a "deluxe room" but it was not the case. the room was quite smelly and the bathroom was very small and moldy. i think this hotel should be rated 1-2 star nothing more for the room that i stayed.

When we moved to the hotel, a room was given to us a real damp room. everything is quite old in this hotel, the bed sheets were having threads oozing out, and when I sat on the bed, I got to hear the sound of the springs. Too good to invoke for a change. I ran to the hotel reception and really got noisy, the person managing was real oversmart guy, still advocating the same room with an attitude, then later he agreed for a different room, and that was ok. But this harassment was not what we paid for. So did not liked the hotel at all. The other room was ok... the AC was real bad, not working properly, but we can open windows to get fresh air. We thank GOD for the same
