Hotel Encounter is at the very top oh Thamel. The staff is very attentive and the manager/owner? is very nice. Was able to hire a car through him for day trips.

This hotel was ideal for our small budget - close enough to Thamel but not right in the midst of it. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The view from our room was excellent, although it was very noisy during the day as it was located over a school. There were quite a lot of dogs barking at night, although that isn't the fault of the hotel! We would definitely stay here again.

iff i whas know the condition of the hotel i will never give to you my card details . i paid for something which its not existing. internet availeble only in rooms at the same side of the building with reception and this only when it is electricity.
half of the time no electricity than internet ......there still its cold and in the first night i sleep with 2 pcs socks and with my clothes on me. shower in that cold after maibee i go too hospital.airport pickup i paid 700 rupees one time. verry bad experience thanks god i stay only 2 nigths.

terrible rooms- uncaring management

Our deluxe room was terrible...the shower was on the wall in the middle of the sink and toilet with no partition just a drain in the middle of the floor... so that when you took a shower water went everywhere and puddled on the floor. We only had hot water one day out of the 4 days we stayed. A couple of days there was not even cold water running. The bathroom window had missing window panes which allowed cold air to enter. The heater/ac was on a timer and would only stay on a couple of hours at a time thus a cold room to wake up. The bathroom was very cold with water remaining on the floor and no heat. Electric outages were frequent. The room safe is not bolted to the floor. We did not receive any maid service.
When I approached the management with my concerns I was told they were working on the problems and that it would be better next time. I am sure these problems had been occurring for years with no corrections.
I asked them for a late check out the day we left to accommodate for our problems and was told that they could not.
This hotel is only concerned with getting your money and customer service is unimportant to them,
Travel tip:
Room Tip: Other hotels in the area would be a much, much better choice.

Simple but clean rooms. The hotel is definitely very good value for money, staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is very convenient for thamel but a bit further away from all the rush

A very nice stay

The staff at the Hotel Encounter Nepal is friendly and accommodating. They helped us to arrange several trips which made our trip much smoother. The hotel is located within walking distance to the main sights. The rooms were clean and we had hot water. The food in the restaurant was good and they have a lovely garden area.

My husband and I stayed in hotel Encounter for 2 days. The hotel has a good location, in Thamel but far from the busiest and nosiest streets. The hotel has a nice garden and restaurant. Our room was OK, not great. Overall we thought it was a little overpriced.
