Exceeded Expectations

Location, Staff, and Great Value

We booked this hotel because we wanted to stay somewhere nice after backpacking in the Himalaya for a few weeks. This hotel was just what we needed. The staff is incredibly friendly and the hotel is nicer than I expected for the price. We had a great hot shower and delicious/well-priced meals at the balcony restaurant. Overall this hotel is nice, relaxing, and has a great location in the Tibetan Buddhist area of Kathmandu.

Slightly offensive staff but superb room

Plush bed, hot water, pleasing decor

We arrived with backpacks on our backs, looking a bit fatigued from traveling and getting sick too often during our trip, and subsequently the staff treated us as though we were not meant to stay at their hotel, questioning whether we "knew the rate of the room" as though it might be too much for us. It was not obviously (don't judge a book by its cover) and yet the staff continued to treat us a bit strangely throughout our stay, saying also that we needed to pay up front -- an insult that we did not surrender to. However, the room -- its plush bed and big bathtub, endless hot water, tea maker, etc. -- was a welcome retreat. The location though is so-so. It is on the main ugly road near the stupa (paces away, really), but it is nicer to stay inside the old city, nearer the stupa, for better atmosphere.

We had a very enjoyable four night stay.

The staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was clean and spacious. Very good value for money.

Nice hotel but price is too high

close to airport, to BuddhaStoupa, friendly staff

I liked staying in the hotel, but after travelling around Nepal later, realised that price of this hotel is extremely expensive for Nepal standard. In Thailand or China such hotel will charge you cheaper. I would say its 3+ hotel.

Location is good as it is not so far from Airport, within 5 mins walking distance to the famous Boudha stupa. If you need to buy some grocery, there is a big supermarket within 15 minute walking distance (slightly opposite Hyatt hotel). Wifi in every room available, breakfast with boudha stupa view on sight. Room is clean with hot water available. Overall I am satisfied during my stayed .

Pleasant, well-located hotel

Located a very short walk from Boudha stupa; readily available taxis, close to airport

This hotel was very pretty, in an authentic way. Lovely gates, paintings, prayer wheels. The staff could not have been sweeter: everyone seemed genuinely interested in giving the best service possible. The rooms were luxurious by Nepalese standards, tho not in the same class as the nearby Hyatt. The bed was comfortable, sheets & towels were all clean & fresh. Our bathroom had a tub with shower. The bathtub took a very long time to drain, and the toilet tank took a while to refill, but this is plumbing in that part of the world. we only ate breakfast in the restaurant, never lunch or dinner. The buffet in the morning was very nice, but a little pricey for the area. After eating there 2 mornings, we then found tasty, very cheap food in the old part of Boudha, and this is where we ate the majority of our meals. It is a 5 minute walk to the Boudha stupa and the restaurants & shops. And Boudha is like a serene little bubble in crazy Kathmandu. You'll see monks, Tibetans, Nepalese and westerners all walking round this amazing stupa. Cabs were readily available whenever we wanted to do sightseeing in the other parts of Kathmandu, and for getting to & from the airport.
