Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Eco-friendly with a great staff
The friendly staff, the convenient location to Durbar Square and Thamel, and the delicious food
9
We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly. I particularly liked that they were eco-friendly in their practices. They do participate in the power cuts, but during those times there are minimal lights run by generators. The food was very yummy and hygenic, which was a comfort. The location was within walking distance of Durbar Square and Thamel, but on a quieter street.

Big Mistake: Came in for my last night of stay in Nepal before heading to the Airport because it looked "classy".
It was a rainy evening and the streets outside the hotel was pretty flooded, yet at the male staff at front desk was rude and uninterested to help.
Porter was OK showing me the room amenities. The room was very dim (even at hours outside load shedding - there were only 2 bulbs for the room, not enough for reading). Water takes a while to heat up so there's warm shower, but no shampoo or hair dryer on offer.
Would have gone out to dine but it was too wet. The restaurant staff was attentive, yet the food pretty average and overpriced.
There was heating lamp, heating blanket to keep you warm, HOWEVER since load shedding was on they were useless (apart from water bottles). There was also no TV in the room despite the price.
Next day I arranged taxi drop-off at airport. Front desk lady marked down my time, and I explicitly asked "do I need to pay for anything" which she responded that it's FREE. So off we go. When I got out of the taxi at the airport, driver made a call to reconfirm, it's then that he claimed I've to pay?! All puzzled I asked to speak to the staff, the person who picked up the phone mentioned "You have to pay" and the girl who arranged the taxi for me simply say "I never said it's free" and completely forgot about our conversation, which is completely rude. Poor taxi driver I thought, and not sure whether some scam is going on, I have to underpay the driver from my own pocket with the remaining rupees I had.
Lesson is, there are plenty of better (with traditional decor and much better services) in Central Thamel. Even the other 2 I stayed at are half price of here!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Stay in Central Thamel for easy food access

Beautiful eco friendly Newari hotel
9
The hotel was beautiful and had a lot of Newari designs. Eco friendly hotel that is plastic free and provided mineral water to drink. Hot water was provided 24/7 and the restaurant had awesome food.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you turn right from the hotel, there's a tour agency called "Goodwill (also had a sign saying Seva) Travels and Tours". They provided us the cheapest quote for the mountain flight at USD $ 170 per person. Trustworthy and reliable guy we dealt with named Shiva Chaudhary.

Wonderful Hotel in a great location
Beautiful traditional style and service

A bit chilly this time of year but not too bad, especially when the power is on. But that inconvenience is outweighed by the kind staff and exemplary service. On the edge of busy Thamel yet a haven of peace and quiet!

Peaceful refuge in a somewhat chaotic city.
Customer service, friendliness, free drinking water in room, rooftop patio, peaceful garden, clean.

this hotel was a great recommendation from a friend. it is well kept and clean, and has the old brick charm of a temple or historic landmark. i really liked being able to escape the hustle bustle of the city and find quiet and peace within the hotels gates. the electricity is only available during the evening and through the nights, but that is more than the rest of kathmandu. i went in the off season (winter) and staff would bring in hot water bottles and ensure beds had lots of blankets. it was a great place to stay. good view of city from rooftop terrace.

I chose to stay here after 3 weeks in Pokhara for a nights luxury before heading on to Thailand.
Staff were kind and friendly, but after a long day wanted to kick back in my room and relax.
Ordered room service, kitchen not open, resturant closed, but did manage to get a cold beer.
Went for a wander to Thamel centre and found somewhere to eat.
Was told not to walk the alley ways to the hotel after 8pm as it maybe dangerous. So got back fairly early.
Breakfast was available in the morning but was basic.
Also no airport transfer as advertised.
Ok but must be much better for that kind of money in Nepal.

Great architecture, lovely food & awesome staffs!
Food was great, we had a lovely Nepalese dinner at the hotel. If you are into architecture, this is the place to be. Lovely concepts. The hotel staffs are wonderful.

There was some messed up in booking & I was worried that we won't get money back from agoda. But Hotel Kantipur Manager (Ms. Digambar) was very very nice to sort out the whole mess.
I will be recommending this place to all my friends & family who wants to visit Kathmandu. This place is very close to Thamel as well.
