After traveling around Nepal, arriving at the KGH was a pleasure - quiet, attractive setting with rooms ranging in price from $2 (original dorm) to $160 (new luxury wing). Staff is friendly and attentive, fellow guests are diverse and interesting to watch, breakfast in outdoor garden setting is good (Illy coffee is extra! but a nice alternative to the Nescafe available in much of Nepal and with the complementary breakfast). This place really is the nerve-center of Thamel, the tourist center of KTM. Everything is within walking distance, yet the hotel itself is secluded and quiet. Front-desk staff are friendly and helpful. Several small shops on the premises sell souvenirs, maps, and even fine jewelry. The rooms vary according to price, but are all clean and comfortable; a $50 room with bath was more than adequate and looked out onto the central garden.

The first impression of the hotel was good, nice lobby and garden, but the room (no garden view) was out of date, not in line with the price of the room charged. Water pressure was good but the temperature of the water was not hot enough for shower.

this was a very basic hotel from what i could experience. i stayed in a deluxe room and it was quite small and old. i feel there is a better value out there. hotel staff is friendly. but i felt like it was all about money! good stay overall.
Travel tip:
Stay in Thamel as everything is so convenient.

Expensive yet not a value stay. Buy online is much cheaper than book the room there.
Travel tip:
HOT Shower is the main issue.. No hot water and water pressure is extremely low. Thamel area, the power supply is always shut down for certain time.You will encounter few times of blackout.
Their wifi only free at the coffee house area.

The hotel is located directly in the busy part of Kathmandu, but you can escape from hectic and busy streets by chilling in the hotel garden. Staff hotel was always very helpfull and friendly and able to provide us with all additional requests upon our arrival.
The only downside of this hotel that there was no response to emails before arrival.
Nightlife Tip:
The hotel is located next to lot of shops, great restaurants and bars and it's only 20 minutes from the airport.

Every traveller to Khatmandu seems to pass through these doors and with good reason. If you only stay there on the first night it's worth it. You will meet people, learn about the treks from those who have done them and find yourslef slapbang in the centre of the action day or night. However, cheaper options are easy to find and we moved out after a couple of days - I would go back though

i very enjoy the time during stay in kathmandu guest house. i love the nice garden with fresh small of flowers. room was clean, the blanket was a little old. but i understood that no one should wast any resource in nepal. i 'll be back again.
