Only 5 minutes walk from Thamel, very clean, definitely 4* standard
Some minor inconsistencies
The Malla hotel is definitely one of the more luxurious optiions in Kathmandu, but rates can be very cheap in low season. It is only 5 minutes' walk from Thamel, so you can still be right in the middle of the action. Some minor inconsistencies - I stayed there on 2 separate occasions - the first time was faultless, the second time however, my windows couldn't shut, which meant the AC couldn't have its full effect and was quite noisy from the traffic on the main road.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Roadhouse Cafe in Thamel for home comfort foods

net and clean, cooerative staffs and peaceful environment
amenities are old and location is bit far from the airport
This is my thrird stay at this hotel. I again found hotel staff very good and cooerative. Hotel location is relatively far a way from the airport but the place is quite and peaceful. The touriestic hub Thamel is closely located and some departmental stoires such as BhatBhateni are in the proximity. Good resturants are available within walking distacnce.

cleaner than before, staffs are good and helpful
AC was not working fully rest was ok
I stayed in this hotel in march this year. at that time, I had to change three rooms in one day because of technical problems (AC and bathroom related) but this time there was no problem. I found the hotel management is also improved and my stay was quite comfortable.

Reception - Room service - Cleaning -
Let's be sincere - I can't complain considering the cost/value. But still - I will.
I stayed 6 days at Mallah. The hotel is 5 minutes away from the center of the busy Thamel, but still it is surprisingly quiet. The location is thus very good.
I have to complain about the staff, and specially the night shift receptionist. After a joyful night in Thamel, I came back at 3 AM, a little tipsy, and while I was getting my key from the receptionist, I left a bag of groceries on the counter, and went back straight to my room. The next morning, I looked for my bag without success, and I called the reception right away. The bag was nowhere to be seen, but I was convinced I left it at the reception.
And I was right; it appears that the night shift receptionist who gave me my key took the bag, and finished his night munching on some cereal bars and apples I had bought the previous night.
I received some confused apologies from the head receptionist, arguing that some customers happen to give presents to the staff, and that the night guy mistakenly thought so.
Right...
Bottom line, I am disappointed by the staff behavior, and the lack of trust and sincerity one should expect from a...hmm... 5 star hotel.
This said, the location is good and the facilities not bad.
But next time, I might book a room in the center of Thamel with the rest of the crowd.
One more thing, the WI-FI setup is barely working and awfully expensive.

Is situated in touristic area namely Thamel. net and clean. Easily accessible from the airport. Hotel staffs are very cooperative and polite.
Bit old type rooms, amenities are old as well. No services like tooth brush, lotions... etc. we have to call reception for such services and you have to pay for that.
It is a good hotel, if you are thinking of spending 2-3 days in Kathmandu.

Staff, service, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds, reasonably priced tasty food, peace & quiet but so close to Thamel.
The crying of the poor lonely caged peacock in the grounds disturbed me.
Old world style and service with attentive staff -many of whom had been with the hotel since its opening over 20 years ago. Most comfortable beds we had during 3 weeks in Nepal. Lovely outlook over manicured gardens and lawns. Although most guests have included buffet breakfasts and dinners in their room price, we had an excellent price for room only with Agoda and were able to have a la carte breakfasts and dinners at a very economical rate.
Travel tip : There is a side exit on your left as you walk out the main door of the hotel. This is a short cut to the Thamel area and means you can avoid the busy main road.

not very good hotel. It does´t deserve 5 stars
Maximum 3 stars.
There was no electricity and the generator of the hotel was just giving a small light in the room, not even to be able to read...The room hasn´t been cleaned in 4 nights.
I disliked almost everything there.
They don´t deserve 5 stars. It was very dirty and the room hasn´t been cleaned for 4 days.
Bathroom was dirty and breakfast lousy.
I don´t recommend this place to anyone. On top of that there was no electricity and the generator of the hotel allowed us only to a small lamp, just in order not to fall in the room.
Impossible to read,, watch TV and take elevator.
It was horrible. Never again there.

Good location, nice swimming pool, staff very friendly. Close to the many shops and pubs.
Has a bit of a run down feeling. Breakfast buffet lacks variety.
The hotel is just around the corner of Thamel, where on can find plenty of small shops, pubs and some discos. It seems to be visited by many "old hippies" at least during my stay. Currently (June 2008) there is some construction work ongoing beside the hotel, which can cause some noise and dust, but it did not disturb me during the night. All in all,it is okay for the price and one cannot expect modern 4 or 5 star qualities for it.
Nightlife Tip : Just turn left 2 or 3 times and you end up in the Thamel area (5minutes walking),where you can find many shops, restaurants, travel agents and pubs.

Compared to the price, was a solid hotel. Had to worry about water or electricity, no problems either.
Newcomer, but I ordered a transfer from the airport via e-mail, no reply from the hotel, a taxi from the airport after all. No such service is not good, just wanted to reply.
Explore as long as five-star facilities and services is hard to say, including the location of this price I think it's very affordable.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Tameru district walked five minute, it is a good location.

The hotel also beautiful buildings, gardens, and they both Ikitodoi cleaning pools, I feel a sense of quality. Beautiful and spacious rooms. Are well cleaned. Was also beautiful and well appointed bathroom amenities.
Hospitality at the front desk unfriendly and rude aged twenty.
The low rates charged percent are very large and beautiful hotel, you can enjoy the atmosphere of five staying in a luxury hotel like the star. We have time to savor slowly did more in the hotel is just in the hotel, enjoy it fully.
Shopping Tip : Close to main street, shopping, good location will have enough to eat. However, in the back alley for a bit, the hotel is quiet and comfortable.
