Good clean place, good price, quiet

The staff at Potala Tourist Home were great. The room was nice and clean. Definitely better than other hotels in the price range. Like the rest of Kathmandu, expect electricity cuts, internet outages, and the possibility of a cold shower. We stayed in the middle of winter and the room got quite cold but they furnished us with heavy blankets. From our experience with other hotels in Nepal, Potala Tourist Home was better than the other budget hotels we've stayed in. The staff really left an impression on us with their hospitality and the restaurant was really delicious! Make sure you don't confuse it with Potala Guest House, which is on the other side of Thamel!
Hotel Feature Tip:
Make sure to carry a torch if you venture out after dark. The street is quite dark once the electricity shuts off.
