This imaginatively titled hotel is set in the grounds of a 100 year old palace is conveniently close the local shopping area of Thamel. The hotel features 270 guest rooms featuring comfortable furniture and a pleasant decor with attached bathroom, color television and reasonably priced mini bar. The Yak & Yeti Hotel is well equipped with a selection of leisure activities, thanks to the brand new Nirvana fitness center, complete with large swimming pool and full gymnasium. There is also an on-site Casino where guests can to try their luck in the evenings. The hotel also features a host of dining options, including the delightful Sunrise Cafe which offers delicious international cuisine throughout the day, as well as organizing themed nights throughout the week, where the chefs choose a particular cuisine from another country.

Great breakfast buffet, beautiful grounds. Good location.
Facilities old and decaying
Room smelled like mildew and pee - clearly the hotel has put no money into refurbishment in 20 years. Elevator takes really long time to come. Great breakfast buffet, for what it’s worth. All the more surprising given the hotel’s price point - next time I will stay at the Sheraton.
Restaurant Tip : North Korean restaurant located next to hotel - kitschy and interesting diversion. Definitely government sponsored by North Korea.

Despite being the known as the "best" hotel in town, the Yak and Yeti disappointed us. The structure and gardens were nice but the service was below par. The staff were not friendly or helpful. They were impersonal.
