Low end lodging primarily for Philippine nationals

We frequently travel to Bacolod and have stayed at several hotels there. Those priced comparable to The Suites at Calle Nueva, were far superior in quality. We were greatly disappointed, expecting a similar experience for the price paid.The room was small lacking any amenities (no fridge, mini-bar, city information/directory, toiletries/ robe/slippers). Incredibly small bathroom – knees almost touch wall while sitting on toilet. No bathtub. Pedestal sink with no shelving and zero countertop space (toilet lid is your countertop). However the flat-screen TV was fairly new, but local CATV was very poor quality. Staff was polite and friendly, but simple – not really knowing the trade. The off street parking with security guard was very small but we were able to reserve a parking space. Breakfast buffet menu was extremely poor having only scrambled eggs and toast (no condiments) as breakfast items – strangely, other menu items were iceberg lettuce, sardines, over-dyed red hotdogs, rice, processed corned beef and instant coffee (no fresh brewed available). Obviously, the staff doesn’t understand what a breakfast normally includes. Although breakfast was included with the room fare – we had to eat elsewhere. The Suites at Calle Nueva are extremely overpriced for basically a substandard Motel 6.

the suites at calle nueva is a nice clean hotel with spacious, new and modern feel to the rooms and friendly and helpful staff. it is few minutes walk from main plaza, sm mall and with tons of local restaurants, street side grills and karaoke bars in the area. plus if they have free rooms they upgrade you into next level rooms - they upgraded us from standard to superior room.

We stayed here after trekking Mount Kanlaon. When we arrived, we were very tired and in need of a good night's sleep and some good food. The hotel did not disappoint. We had a deluxe room which was perfect. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Staff were helpful and gave us extra towels and soap as required. The hotel was quiet and we had a great night's sleep. We were too tried to venture outside and opted for dinner in the hotel. The food was of a good standard but the steak was too chewy! Breakfast was also good. Would stay here again for sure!

wonderful small hotel.
the rooms are impeccable: spacious, clean, comfortable. there is a comfy couch in the room and many pillows. the hot water is not that hot but in the philippines you don't need a burning hot shower anyway. the service is extremely friendly and attentive, from the room cleaners to the cooks, including the security guards and the receptionists. breakfast is good enough. it has a few dishes which change daily, plus eggs, cereals and toast.
the hotel is generally quiet. sometimes you might hear the beat of karaoke bars from down the street, but it rarely lasts and isn't very disturbing.
the location is good, next to the main plaza, the cathedral, the main street (lacson) and a major mall (sm). the street itself might seem a little shady at first, but it is really not. it's just a regular small street with cheap karaoke bars. just follow basic travelling etiquette (don't flaunt your jewelry) and you'll be totally ok.
overall, if you are looking for a pleasant place to stay in bacolod, this is a very smart choice.
Shopping Tip:
SM mall is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Pass the main Plaza and continue for 50m.
Robinson's mall is 10 minutes away by Jeepney up Lacson.

Clean and comfortable hotel
Great bed. Pillows are new and soft. Linens are clean and new.

I checked in for one night only and the room was really great. They gave me a deluxe room. I asked if I could see their standard room, so I would know if I would want to recommend the hotel. Since the quality of the linens and pillows are exactly the same as in the standard room, I think this hotel is worth coming back.
