Almont Inland Resort, Butuan

Having stayed a year ago at the excellent sister Almont Hotel in the city plaza, I was very disapointed with the Almont Inland Resort . It's situated on a pleasant medium sized plot about five minutes ride from the City but the whole atmosphere is one of decay and tiredness with the standard rooms in severe need of upgrading, they are very gloomy and small . 12' TV, ghastly tiny shower rooms and mostly a longish walk from reception with badly lit and uneven pathways. The food is very average indeed and flies are a constant nuisance, no tonic water in the hotel either ! The pools require repainting and the grounds are mostly lacking in grass or covered in stones . However the WiFi in the bar area was excellent and the superior rooms looked okay, in reality the standard rooms should be of that quality . This could be so much better if the owners got a grip and invested some money !

The last day was the pitfall when they almost charged me my entire room bill which was prepaid here in the US. He could not understand that when a room is pre-booked/prepaid they should not bill me again for the rooms unless if I have additional charges such as food, etc...The guy was still trying to convert the peso to dollars according to how much is owed until he understood later that the rooms were prepaid. Also, they failed to inform me about the hours for the airport transfer when I specifically told them about my flight the day before. We ended up taking the taxi unnecessarily. Other than that, the resort is is really nice.
