2 swimming pools
very very friendly staffs
bathroom is old and broken, should have renovation
no air-conditioning at the restaurant
no kettle at the room
the local tours offered by the hotel (for island hopping) are a bit expensive comparing with others.
just opposite the hotel, a few Korean restaurants there, good taste for the one with BBQ
next to the hotel, the bluewater hotel has good value seafood so no need to go to floating restaurant where they charge unreasonable high price
Hotel Feature Tip : nice to stay for 2-3 days given the price

Staffs are very nice, helpful and friendly at White Sand. This is the best thing of this hotel. Pool is very big, nice and beautiful. Breakfast is buffet style from 6am to 10am. Green environment in hotel is good. You can have lots of beautiful pictures with those trees and flowers.
Toilet is dirty and with lots of ants and insects. For me, cleaniness of toilet of a hotel is very important. I am afraid of insects much. Must improve in this aspect. Overall cleaniness of the room must be improved. Beach is small, if you want to have a white and long beach area outside hotel, it is not the one. Only one restaurant in hotel and not enough variety of foods for choice.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Local tour at Bohol Island arranged by hotel is great. With transportation from hotel to pier to Bohol Island and back to hotel including lunch at Loboc RIver Cruise. With private tour guide for the whole trip. P5050/ person for the tour provided by hotel. Kayaking p350/ hour (2 persons) at White Sand beach. Hotel transportation is not free of charge. But you can still make the hotel transportation reservation if you like. Someone would pick you up at airport. It takes around 30mins from Mactan Island to Cebu City and if arriving Ayala Plaza, it takes 45mins, SM City 35Mins by taxi (P250). Massage (Hot stone therapy P1000/ person) is nice. Massager will come to your room. Must book it in advance. Must try the very special Maribago Grill Restaurant just 5mins walking distance from hotel.

It is not too large hotel but just enough size to have good staffs. They are all good and kind to make us feel first class. Rooms are very clean but , I guess that is how it is in cebu. very good food in the morning, lunch and dinner. If you want to gain weight, this is the place. Hahaha....They provide all kind of activities and it was so good to have hotel staff come with us. so we can have good time. Piano music was very nice add to our dinner.
LIke to see internet in each room, also did not work very well on at lobby or restaurant. We should ave good reception there, I carry two computers and both of them did not work and all of sudden, it started working at late afternoon. it is very important that we have easy access to internet.
It is great place to take family so I took entire family of 9 people and two 5 year old kids. We all enjoied at swiming pool. it has shallow area for kids and deep area. And also enjoyed beach too. It is little small but very exclusive clean beach. Pool side is good but vlla side has great KOI fish collection and let you feed them. Again, Kids enjoyed and be able to touch KOI fish is unforgetable memory for kids and all of us. Great place. I really enjoyed.
Hotel Feature Tip : Taxi is very good way to get around the island and it is very inexpensive, in addition to what sand hotel add some other hotel dinning to add some variety.

Clean / beautiful / nice staff / high security
the beach is little bit too small....
It is a quite beautiful hotel, with a nice swimming pool and smiling staff. The security is high coz when you going or coming back to the hotel, the security guard does check yr room no. to ensure that you really live in. If you need a taxi, the guard will help to get a taxi for you, and copy all the tax info such as driver license, car plate, and will give you those info. So, the taxi driver will not cheat you as well. Though the hotel is a bit old, it is very clean.

Great staff, lovely room, great setting
Grotty bathroom, on a busy road
We stayed at White Sands on our last night in the Philipines and it was great to prepare us for our flight. The setting is lovely (great for a wedding!) room was huge and clean, but the bathroom let them down - it was a surprise considering how nice White Sands is. Other than the bathroom, everything else was really nice, the resturant is quite plush, food was really nice, the staff really helpful and resort complex was beautiful. Overall, White Sands is a lovely place, but I wouldnt have wanted to stay there more than a day or so.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There's not a huge amount to do in Macatan, and its a bit of a journey into Cebu city.

nice pool, not crowded, nice beach area
no one really talks to you unless you tip them
It was nice staying here, but I would recommend to get MANY small bills (20 pesos) and have them ready to tip nearly everyone. The staff was pretty reluctant to speak to us, when we asked questions they seemed ill informed and unenthusiastic; but after tipping, (even a small amount) they wanted to cater to our every need. SO, I suggest tipping everyone, even though its annoying that you have to do it, just to make your stay more enjoyable. We did the island hopping tour through the resort (it was a little pricey at P2750 per person) but our kids were free and the BBQ lunch with fresh fruit was amazing. I read some of the reviews on this site about bad breakfast but I thought it was a decent spread. Also, they have eggs but you have to ask for them (another thing we only discovered after having tipped the waiter). The resort is great for families..very laid back and child-friendly.
Restaurant Tip : Go to Maribago grill for some variety (the resort restaurant is pretty uninspired). Also, the cabs into Cebu City are really inexpensive (make them turn the meter on) and we got there in less than 40 min.

Big and spacious rooms with modern amenities. Beautifully landscaped and clean surroundings.High security visibility within the resort, you'll be very safe. Warm hospitality and very courteous staff.
The beach is crowded with motor boats.
Cebu White Sands at Maribago Bay is a good resort place to stay when you want to relax and be pampered with the peace and quite surroundings from the busy city. It's clean and beautifully landscaped that is calming and soothing to your senses. The courtyard rooms are big and spacious for a couple or a family. Service is very good and the staff are warm, accomodating and courteous.Depending on the purpose of your stay, the pools are not huge and the beach is not also that inviting because of the motor boats that crowd the beach front area. The place is not crowded and congested on weekdays, so my advise is to book your stay there on any day other than Saturday and Sunday.Overall, the place is worth the value for your money.
Restaurant Tip : There is a native Pilipino grill restaurant just near the resort. Very popular to both local and foreign guests may it be for lunch or dinner. The name of the place is Maribago Grill House.

Nice landscape. Nice Filipiniana style lobby.
Another overpriced resort for what you get. The room service menu is so limited. Too far and the public transportation services will charge you an arm and a leg.
I was disappointed to see that their beach area is so small. Not the relaxing beach I was hoping for. We ended up eating out because there's not much selection on their food menu. Breakfast is OK but not great. This place is so far away the taxi charge us more to get there. The bathrooms need to to be remodeled, some mildew are starting to emerge.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : They do offer island hopping trips.

Great room, grounds well maintained, service excellent
Beach is small and nothing special
We had a great stay. Staff was helpful and attentive. Room was spacious and clean. Loved the Koi ponds and decoration of grounds. Only negative would be the prices at the restaurant were a bit steep for Cebu.

Room interior and hotel exterior is nice.
Hotel staff is very friendly.
1) The beach is terrible, very small, no white sands, and many outsiders disturbing you offering their services.
2) Day trip Island hoping service is not worth the money. Better go and find outside.
As mentioned above, hotel staffs and interiors are good. However, the beach is terribly bad, small, and many outsiders shouting and offering services. One definitely can't sit peacfully on the small beach. Hotel services, like taxi and island hoping is very expensive and not worth the money.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Ask hotel staff for a cheaper, good, and reliable island hoping provider.

Wonderful experience, overall. Beautiful grounds, Beautiful pools.
A few small ants and mosquitos in hotel room. And a cockroach in the dining area.
Wonderful experience, overall. Beautiful grounds, meticulously kept. Nice view of ocean / harbor. Beautiful pools. Beach is very small with no waves...swimming is possible in ocean but not enjoyable. Also, a few small ants and mosquitos in hotel room. And a cockroach in the dining area.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : For a small piece of paradise without too much expense, Whitesands is a great hotel.

Clean and safe, well keeped garden, enticing swimming pools around the hotel, beach frontage, excellent service staff, excellent food selection on the breakfast buffet, friendly staff.
Toilet paper, it is so thin it's almost impossible to use. Hotel needs to provide better toilet paper in rooms at least 3 ply rolls.
I was glad that I picked this hotel when booking through the internet. On arrival staff greeted me with a cooool drink (went down very well to start with). Then I was preceeded to the front counter to check in. Very organised, they had all my details, had the exact room I requested, provided all information I needed. I must say that staff at service desk were very nice and professional. Hotel's information particularly on their tour activities is great. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the Island Hopping trip organised by Felix and his crew, they made this trip a real fun day with lots of walking, snorkling and swimming. Lunch and refreshments provided on the boat was excellent. Really enjoyed the time we stayed at this hotel (those thousands of Koi fish in the ponds around the hotel were fantastic, you can just sit outside your garden room and watch, or read or just listen to the fountain gushing and splashes of the fishes, it's refreshing! Promised to be cack and bring my family so they can experience the fun as much as we had in this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Thank you to Felix and his crew on the island hopping trip. We had a great time.

Huge range of available activities, good location, beautiful views across the bay, beautiful setting
Hotel transport expensive and taxis hard to get at night
This resort has everything you would expect from a more expensive resort. The location is superb, the views from the private beach across the sea to the far side of the bay is very beautiful, it is far enough away from major poulation centres that there is no excessive noise at night but it is close enough to Cebu City that you can shop or go clubbing or whatever using only a short tyaxi ride. Facilities were excellent, two pools (one exclusively for checked-in guests), lots of well-tended greenery so the resort seems cool and relaxing even on the hottest day, good food, entertainment every night in the restaurant/dining area and a clean well-appointed room which is cleaned every day by polite and courteous staff. Hotel transport id expensive by Philippine standards, about twice the price of a typical hire (if you know a friendly filipino of course) but the cars and vans are clean, air-conditioned, modern and well-maintained; I hired a minibus for a day for an eight-hour trip to Kawasan Falls and it cost 9000 pesos (£120) but it was worth it. Jet bikes, boats, scuba diving trips at very good rates and many other things are all available at the resort. Beach is small but clean, private and has a uniformed guard. I stayed for 10 days and enjoyed it immensely but most people only seem to stay for a few days while island-hopping. There is a restaurant just across the road from the frint gate which I heard was very good, but anything else (nightclubs and videoke bars etc) necessitate getting a taxi (or using the hotel car). Taxis can be hard to come by at night - ask at reception and they will get the gate security guards to go out and find you one but you may have to wait ten minutes or so at night. A meter taxi to SM is only 200 pesos (£2.50) and Mango Park clubs even less so if you are stuck then even the hotel car won't break the bank. My one and only real complaint was that like many Filipino places they allow people to smoke in the restaurant.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Try the watersport - scuba diving with instruction at only $45 US per day !
